Help - Intermittent inability to connect to game login server, steam restriction?

Sometimes I can connect to the game and instantly reach the login server (and see game server/character selection) as expected, and then at some times of the day I cannot reach the login server/play the game for hours on end. I noticed this problem first started happening about 3 weeks ago with no prior issues and no changes made on my end. I have this problem on 2 different machines, 2 different networks, and some other people in very different locations have the same problem at times. Once I'm logged into the game, there seem to be no issues until the next day when it starts all over again.

Even so...


My internet connection (speed test checked, router, firewall, antivirus) is showing no issues with anything else. I've got all permissions set, etc, etc.

I've checked everything I can, steam restarts, game restarts, system restarts, network equipment restarts, direct connect to modem, disabling firewall, you name it.

Looking for answers anywhere I can. Help seems to be in short supply.

Is it specific to Space Wars: Interstellar Empires?

Yes as far as I can tell, that's the only game I've been playing through steam that requires connection to a login server (Fallout 4 doesn't)

I don't currently have any other steam games installed, and I've never had a problem like this before.

I don't know if this issue is ISP/Network, Steam, the game itself or what...

As of about 2 hours ago, I'm suddenly allowed to join everyone else, log in, and play. Expecting to hit a dead-zone again tomorrow.

11:45 PM local time and now 7 AM local time, unable to connect/log in while other players and game servers are confirmed active. I was playing from about 6 PM until when I decided to quit at 11:45. For SnG's I tried to reconnect and was unable to do so at that time.

Seems I can access the game just fine with an alternate Steam account, but have trouble connecting right after a patch or at random periods throughout the day.

Either something is wrong with my steam account and achievements/game data or something is wrong on the game server end. Not an ISP issue.

Still would appreciate some help with this. Any way to contact steam support/check on things from their end?

Oh, looking at cmd prompt netstat info, I seem to be missing a connection to the game for some reason, but only when using a specific account.

Again, I'd really like some help from steam personnel troubleshooting this issue.
