How long before I can become "eligible" to recieve steam digital gift card?

My friend is trying to send me digital steam card but he says I am "Ineligible to recieve gift". We both think its from us being friends for one day but how long do we have to wait?

haha., no it's not a day, it's much longer. a month atleast probably 3 days. since old steam gifting rules had u wait a month to gift stuff. much more lenient this time around.

Wish they would give an exact date, my friend is trying to send a card also through paypal gift store, but ♥♥♥♥ sakes, problems just keep coming

paypal gift store doesn't have any sort of time limit requirement, it's a direct code.

Are there any restrictions on purchasing digital gift cards?
You and your friend must both have Steam accounts and you'll need to be friends on Steam. You can purchase Steam digital gift cards for any user that you have had on your friends list for at least 3 days. Please note that you cannot use existing wallet funds to purchase a digital gift card.
