Windows 7 April Update
July UpdatePack7 2024.7.10 is out and is running fine for me. I've installed it on several of my Win7 machines and no issues to report.

I'm sure that there are many Win7 users out there that are unaware of these monthly updates. My experience has been very good since I started using them in 2021. One download will update a fresh install of Windows 7 SP1 to current day (or you can update the ISO before installing). Save time and bandwidth, it's basically SP2.

Steam seems fine. No real issues to report.

If you have any suggestions on improving the stability or utility of Windows 7 please share with us.

I would do that only once, i.e. test this out with 4-5 antiviruses.

Then if all is fine, remove all but 1 active antivirus.
(and keep 1-2 offline antiviruses too)

For example, an active Kaspersky antivirus + offline MalwareBytes and offline SUPERAntiSpyware will do. Despite its absurd name, the latter does a great job clearing web browser cookies (on demand) for most popular web browsers. :)

I am most certainly NOT saying to test for viruses every time (every month) a new Windows 7 Updater update is offered & installed. That would be overkill and a waste of time IMHO.

Sorry if that was not clear. :)

Now, could you tell me, what form of kind of expertise both of you @C²C^Guyver |NZB| and @Abigail From Sexy Shrimp Dept have about the subject of the thread opened by the OP ?
What kind of It stuff can you add to the subject concretly outside a point of view ?

The thing you're not getting is, you shouldn't have to scan any legit Windows update for viruses at all. The fact that you're doing so, should tell you something.

Can you explain why the OP is no longer posting links to these "updates" ?

...because he isn't. Strange, huh?

Do you have to scan official Windows updates for viruses before installing them? No.

If an update gets knackered on Windows 11, It uninstalls itself and everything is back to normal.

That isn't the case here. You guys are telling people that these updates are "safe" and then saying "Well, I scan 4 or 5 times." If they were safe, scanning would not need to be done.

So, no... not safe, as per your actions towards these "updates"

ps :
i jope you realiize that we can't stop people intalling updatepack on their pc if they want to and that whatever we can say or post here ?
So the less we can do is at least to test if for them and tell them if we find something dangerrous inside but i guess that you do not even understand that ......

After everything I just said, do you think I'd just click a link to a random blog of a person or group who thinks they can do "Windows Updates" better than Microsoft?

EDIT:
Yup, totally useless because I actually care what gets installed on my PCs.

Don't expect logic from them. No one supports Windows 7 now, none. Drivers? Nope. Games? Nope. Hardware? Not for a long time now.

They tried to link to a KB article when pointed out their "Update" was missing the previous files. They said it "replaced" them. It's supposed to be installed along side them lol

I can't wait until they can no longer connect to Steam. Get rid of this pointless, and nearly malicious spam. And yes, it's malicious to promote software and updates that are not certified, blindly at that.
C²C^Guyver |NZB| Jul 29, 2024 @ 9:38am
Indeed I guess they'll continue to gloss over that part of the Steam Online Conduct that specifically mentions this very thing.
NakiBest Jul 29, 2024 @ 9:41am
We will see what song you guys sing when Microsoft stops free Windows 10 updates not so far from now, later on in 2024. :)
(Well, for most Windows 10 editions, not all. I think LTSC & IoT editions will get some more years for free.)

Or you will pay up and pay monthly fees to Microsoft, separately for every single PC used!?
(More than 4-5 here over 2 homes and 1 office)
