Do not buy any game more then the equivelant of 60 USD
Hell do not even buy a game thats 60 USD right now. Do not let devs and publishers start getting high on the idea that they can charge us more and more money for games. The going rate is 60 USD for a new game and has been for a long time, no tarrifs, no whining,

No forwarding the cost to us the consumer. Its your job as a developer to make a good game that sells, not make HALF a functioning game and hold the other half ransom against a lack of sales. If you want that new game, wait for it to go on sale people. If you really just want a new game to play, buy one ALREADY on sale. Were slowly creeping into games being 80+ USD and theyre testing the waters more and more with these garbage "ultra super mega deluxe wiener edition" of games.

I’ll add by saying: do not buy any $60 games with micro transactions. These are definitely awful, predatory games and represent everything wrong with gaming industry. We need to punish these arrogant companies with the only way they understand: money. And before they start crying about ‘financial viability’ - 1) it’s not my problem 2) why did games like BG3 manage to make tons of money without micro transactions?

You want micro transactions in your slop? Make your game 100% free - (i.e. garbage mobile games that I play few mins a day on the train to work)

Ive been doing that for 15 years or more. I wont pay $60, either. MAYBE they can get me to $40 but usually not even close to that.

They can do whatever they want with prices, I wont buy it until its year(s) old and cheap. I dont NEED to buy anything new.

Or maybe understand the world always works this way. Sellers charge what they think the market will stand and it's up to you to choose whether to pay that premium, buy an alternative or wait for a sale.

LOL

Well unfortunately gamers aren't a united faction. We're willing to spend more than $60 on games already. Hell I spent more than $60 on games in 1996.

$60 isn't a sacred price point and it isn't going to/was never going to be permanent.

And for a lot of gamers $70. $80, $100 isn't a weeks worth of wages. Some gamers calculate value differently than you choose
to and aren't obsessed with $60.

There's plenty of games are priced less than $60, and there's sales. People fussing over MSRP like it's some morality issue ain't willing to pay full price under any circumstances anyway. So they should stop worrying and look at the big picture.

And I love sales, but on the otherhand if I want a game then waiting weeks or months for it to go on sale so I can save $20-$30 stops making sense when I figure how long it takes me to make $20-$30.

Video games are geared towards children. Children are dumb. Teenagers are rebellious and dumb.

I've already been following these rules for years, but I'm in the minority. Most morons are happy to pay $2-5 for a cosmetic item these days.

It's how dumb, repetitive games like Fallout 76 keep surviving.

Good luck with your boycott, but people aren't going to listen. In fact, anecdotally, it seems like there's way more people babbling nonsense on the off topic forum, than frequent this one.

I rarely buy a game at such a price. But I'll pay what I consider is good for the game I get.

I bought Doom: The Dark Ages twice - for me and a friend as a gift. Both times in the Ultimate Edition. Also the Gold Edition of Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Man, it’s nice to have money without it eating you up inside ("OH GOD! THE DEVELOPERS! AHHHH!! THE INDUSTRY! THE GREED! *moan moan*) and caring about others I don't care for.

Is there an echo in here?

Considering quality control in the Game industry, anyone buying a game on day 1 should be paid to test the game and find bugs in it..
Wolfpig 4 月 20 日 上午 10:06
If i think the game is it worth then i would willingly pay more then 60 (fantasy) $

it is already quite surprising that prices did not rise in the last 20 years at all either way.

Well, i wait with buying new games until they reach a 50% discount at least:
a. i pay less, i can buy more games
b. in most cases a lot of day 1 issues are fixed, and i can play a better version of the game without crashing or running into game breaking bugs every few minutes
c. Amazon Prime, HumbleBundle Monthly Choice Pack, Epic and GoG also add new games (in some cases for free) to my growing collection every week
d. in the last few years most new games were either broken or pure trash, no reason for buying them even at a discounted price

Anyway, if companies are sure that they'll make more money with raising the prices, so be it, i can wait before buying a game, let's see how long they can wait before selling it at a normal price...

nothing is worth more then 60 USD aside from maybe live service but i only say that because of the rare few live service games that didnt blow.

Been doing that since the 90's m8.
Heck I don't pay more than $15 for a single game.
