If you think a game breaks any laws/rules, report it via the store page and move on.
There is a big blue box stating that.
If the user fails to read that, it is not Steam's problem.
Granted it does seem like the devs may have bitten off more than they can chew but hey. We'll see where this thing is at in 3 years
That along with this big blue disclaimer that is above the purchase button;
The game itself exist. People can download and play a product that was advertised. The state it exist in a whole different discussion.
What is advertised as being included(not upcoming or roadmap) on the store page that is not in the game?
Open-world-mmo. Shop page.
MMO just means it is Mass Multiplayer Online, which it is. "Open World" is subjective in what qualifies as an open world. There is not size requirement to be qualified as one.
I know that it isn't as advertised on YouTube and their previous videos since I've been following the controversy of this game. But, Steam doesn't care about the advertisement outside of the store page AFAIK.
For me, this is clearly scam. An extraction shooter on small maps isnt a open world mmo.
Its a very questionable move to release a game like this on early access. They got an excuse for the current state. Can make promises to fix. Grab a lot of money.
An open world can be a an island, , a city, , a street, or even a single building.
Yep a lot of people think open world means a large world with no loading zones. It actually refers to a non linear progression path like the original megaman games in which your not required to progress sequentially in a specific order.
As soon as I saw what they were selling, I jumped on the product report button. It's 100% a scam: everything about it is fake. The cover design was stolen from "Last of Us" & they didn't even bother changing the font. The "game" itself is a rip-off of The Division's "Dark Zone." The "servers" are basically massive waiting logs that delay your time & it feels like an attempt to make players "time out" from being able to refund. The product itself doesn't even function properly. It's like they slapped a bunch of stolen assets and free UE products together and marketed it as a game. It's literally the prime example of what NOT to sell on any game market.
1) It looks pretty "open world" from my brief watching
2) Its not terrible looking
3) Its pretty empty and sterile, as many of these games are at launch in EA because they havent optimized yet and they go out of their way to limit mobs and things for performance
4) There are servers, I watched the player join one so I assume that would mean there is some type of multiplayer going on though I saw no other players
Doesnt look like a scam and in any case nothing "needs to be done" about early access.
And thats why i say, early access needs to be reformed. The sole purpose here is to grab money.
Valve needs to protect gamers and set new rules for early access. A lot of people will sit for 2 hours waiting to join and lose refund time.
There needs to be some guidelines before releasing a game into early access
The fact that there hasnt been a single playtest, beta test or server stresstest should have been alarming enough.
Also there has been 0 actual footage of the game in 4 years developement other than those scriped gameplay footage by the devs.
This shouldnt have been allowed to go into early access in the first place
Do the math, 40k playing right now, 40 bucks is the price. Even with some refunds they grabbed a fortune out of this scam.
A shame that something like this is possible
