Steam needs to take more responsablity
First i like to make it clear I know when you buy a alpha/prerelease game its a gamble of a 50/50 shoot it will make it out or be a good game.
This is the issue I have noticed latly alot of prerealse games mark themselves as finished when they are clearly not ready and the game becomes abandond, and then there ar a few like a certain company that has not only done this once to there games but twice. They make a pre realse game leave it half finished and abandon game to only do it to another game.

Here is were Steam needs to change, one on pre relase games they need to change there money back police cause seeing how the game well change for months before left untouched by developers a few weeks and a few hours in not enought time until this happiens, the second is we as a paying customers have no real way to both warn and let steam know this company is not only doing this once but twice and they need to be ban from steam to put a stop to this.

This is my opion take it or leave it I will not reply nore will i track this post.

Customers need to take more responsibility.

Especially those who get scammed twice by the same company.

This is my opion take it or leave it I will not reply nore will i track this post. :DEALWITHIT:

Exactly. Refunds should apply to the whole EA process. Most proper AAA projects don't even make you pay for their Alpha/Beta. They distribute free, limited amount of keys to test their product, then when the game is fully released, and the consumer can see the end result they are buying, THEN they have to pay for it.

2 hours in 2 weeks is not enough time to decide if an EA is taking their project seriously, or not. Some EA's stay in EA for half a decade before they abandon it.

It's always a lottery with EA. If you don't want to lose, you shouldn't play.
As for me, I like to buy any game way after the release when all the dust has settled and the game has pretty 75% discount. With a few exceptions, of course, but whenI preorder or buy EA I never spend more than I can afford to lose.

why every body talks about EA all the time ?

we have lot of other bad div/publishers out there

That would negatively impact the design process.

COrrection. Most proper AAA projects don't offer you the opportunity to buy when the game is still in development.

They distribute free, limited amount of keys to test their product.

And those keys can fetch a hefty price on the grey market. Besides it's not free. It's a calculated PR and marketing stunt.

then when the game is fully released, and the consumer can see the end result they are buying, THEN they have to pay for it.

And the same applies to Earlyc Acc.. you can choose to wait before purchasing the game. BNothing forces you to buy a game while it is in EarlyAcc

2 hours in 2 weeks is not enough time to decide if an EA is taking their project seriously, or not. Some EA's stay in EA for half a decade before they abandon it.

Correct. It really only takes 10 minutes of perusing their update history and forums.
Yeah.
Dont buy until they change the terms to something more reasonable for customers and honest developers alike.
And institute some method to deal with scams, fraud and game abandonment/incompletion.

Tell that to "The Stomping Land". I don't think it affected their design process. ;)

Thats because they're too busy PAYING OTHER PEOPLE TO TEST! ;)

Exactly. I don't understand why people are still buying these EA's. It clearly says that some of these projects may or may not be completed. It's like.... bleach bottles. They also have a warning label, drinking bleach may or may not kill you. Why take the chance? The warning is there for a good reason. It's not like they made it up for no reason. ;)

Depends, if you search their forums 10 minutes before the game releases to gold, you have a good idea if it will actually be released, and whether or not it will be worth purchasing. But, EA's take 5-10 years to develop on Steam since they can just linger as long as they want since there are no rules. For somone to buy into an EA on year 1, there is no way of knowing if the project will actually be completed, for much longer than 2 hours or 2 weeks, it will take 5-10 years to get a good idea whats going on, whether they search the forums or not. Beasts of Prey didn't announce in their forums that they were shutting down until about 2 years into development, long past the 2 hour 2 week refund window.

2 weeks is not enough indeed, bought a game that marketed itself with awesome game mode. Bought the game, nope sorry the game mode is not available yet due some problems.. wait few weeks, they release it. Still the game sucks and is not fun to play, try to get refund. Nope you can't have your money back because you waited that extra week for that feature that was supposed to be in the game the day you bought it... NMS was another fiasko where i literally threw my money out of the window.

That you had to oute one of the 5 extreme examples should clue you in. 5 out of +1000.

You have better chances of getting e.colli in your next ice cream cone.

And look at how well that works. That must explain why so many AAA releases are near borderline unplayable. All that paid testing must really make the difference.

I ask the same thing every time I see an Adam Sandler or Medea film. Same way i askl who the hell buys COors? But hey, their money, their decision. There are people who look at video games and would seriously ask what kind of person would waste money on those juvenile things.

SSorry, see there's the problem. You're one of those people who likes everything served up to you in pre chewed easily digested chunks.

See. SOme of us just look at the developer's track record, their update history and can determine if the dev can deliver on their promises a. Plus we can determine if the game is under active or passive development. NIt's a rare super power called, information analysis.

No EAcc has taken 5 years.

1) NMS wasn't EA
2) Anyone who feels like they got ripped off with NMS has nobody to blame but himself. Why would you buy a game with terrible reviews that basically called it a scam?
3) You could have got a refund, but didn't. Now whose fault is that?

Why would you buy a game that is so massively media hyped? When has any game that garnered that much pre-release media hype ever lived up to the hype?

For some people, 5 are too many. If there is so few, then why is their a problem with enforcing rules for this EA flop program?

Unless you're talking about the so many EA releases that are near borderline unplayable, populated by less than 50 players, easy to make 2-d card games, there ARE NOT, 1000+ successful EA's.

You have better chances of getting eaten by a shark while being struck by lightining while eating e.colli in your next ice cream cone than running into one of these borderline unplayable AAA releases. lol ;)

I'm not, but there are a lot of people who don't read up on what engine their future purchase runs on, or who is developing, publishing, these games, or their dev's track records, how much experience they have developing... ect.. ect...

You know, honestly, only video game fanboys read that far into a game. I think you are one of those people who have more fun researching a project than actually playing it. I think you're one of those people who have more fun discussing video games in a video game forum 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I think you're one of those people whoi sets their alarm clock for 6 in the morning every day just so you can come to this forum to dicuss video games.

For you, spending hours on end reading pages of a projects history is a hobby, but you have to understand, not everyone is a video game "fanboy", most people only have a few hours a day to play a video game, then they go to work, go out and play with their friends, and other real life things. ;)

No because Steam EA hasn't been around that long, but if you look at the projected release dates for games like.... DayZ.... you will see they are on par with being released in 10 years. ;)

GG EZ. I should be a lawyer or politician. lol

Fault was mine because I gave the game extra time and a chance to entertain me, I did not follow any of the hype nor did I know there were missing promised features, I just thought the game looked fun but instead it was horrible grinding and repeating. It was like mmorpg simulator without multiplayer. The game I first mentioned was Of kings and men.

Steam needs to add more promts and warning messages on the checkout, like:
"Do you really want to buy an unfinished game?",
"It may never be finished, is it okay for you?"
"You won't be able to refund it after 2 weeks, still willing to buy?",
"Are you sure you know what Early Acess is?",
"Your purchase will be on hold for 3 days so you can do some research and decide carefully",
"You must enter a number we sent you by SMS so that you take it a little more seriously"
