Best I could find was this

https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq/how-to-fix-windows-10-error-dpc-watchdog-violation.2752241/

Perhaps that might help.. perhaps not.

Some research on Google shows it's linked to drivers being defective or not being supported anymore.

Might be necessary to dig in the minidump to find the exact reason for the crashes.

Basically, there's a hardware incompatibility issue caused by Windows 10 no longer supporting it. Out of curiosity, what OS version are you running?

I'm running Windows 10 Pro, OS version 2H12.

Then perhaps you should look up that update that just murdered your system and see if other people have the same problem? Not a steam issue either way, given that error.

I did. It was my graphics driver.

Hopefully no more crashes!

(.... until the next windows update I mean >_> )
This problem can be caused by SATA drivers, i'm using default SATA drivers without problems (for now i don't have latest nVidia drivers)

is not a steam issue and steam can't cause bsod issues...

I wouldn't get those if I were you. The latest Game Ready drivers for my card, crashed my PC.

I'm so glad i still use Win 7 with disabled windows update :). I don't know why MS wants users to have mandatory win updates especially when i hear people groaning about anytime a new updates comes.

Hackers, malware, other malevolent stuff...
Not having those updates opens you up to a whole lot of security threats.

That's why I always update to the latest and get early access to new feature previews whenever one comes out. So that I'm protected no matter what.

A lot of these 'new features' have little to nothing to do with 'security' unless of course we are talking about Microsofts' own 'Security'.

Its fairly unlikely steam is causing it as steam operates on a level/ring where that kind of error wouldn't really be relevant. steam is lkely making a call to a corrputed system dll

If you have dump, then in the event viewer it will show you when the dump occurred as well as what is the faulting module/dll is. That's your best place to start.

Again, I solved the problem - it was a graphics driver causing the crash.
