Could you still earn trading cards with a limited account??

I'm well aware that this isn't the case for f2p games since you need to spend a certain amount before getting access to trading cards. However, does this still apply for gifted paid games? Let's say a friend of mine has gifted me Celeste, on the trading card section it says that there are 3 card drops out of 5 for me to earn. However, I've played for 20 hours already but still haven't received any. Is this normal, or perhaps a case to case basis? Or it won't drop unless I level up my account? I just don't want to replay the same game, if ever that I do level up my account, just to get access to trading cards.

No cards for limited accounts it is.
You don't need to level up to get cards, just unlimit.

Thanks for the info! I probably overlooked that part. I suppose unrestricting my account would be for the better.

That depends. For playing games (including with friends), that doesn't matter.

I agree. But I guess it's time for me to unrestrict this account - to gain access to other steam features. Anyway, thanks again for the info.
