Epic vs Steam.
we know steam is a better platformish compared to epic, more options.
but which one give more to the gamers?
steam has nothing on epic when it comes to giving content to players, i cant even name of the free games have been given out since epic launch... obviously, won ppl with GOOD free games even if most are limited time things.
lets be honest, what is steam even doing?

Found today's one....

How about this... once Epic has a shopping cart, then we can talk which one provides more for the consumers...

On Steam, Developers give out their games. Just because you don't like the games that are being given away on Steam doesn't mean they are no good or that Valve has no idea what its doing.

On Epic, Epic pays the developers to give out their games with suitcases.

Counting money.

You seem to be under the assumption that anything Epic does Steam must do also. But why? Steam isn't losing users. And as far as I know they aren't losing revenue. So what's their incentive to start giving away free games at the pace/scale Epic is? "Epic is doing it", isn't actually a good argument. Steam just needs to run their own business and at the moment that doesn't depend on giving games away.

The problem with Epic's strategy is it does get eyeballs on their launcher. But how many people are just collecting free games? Do all those freebies actually convert into sales? And what happens when the gravy train stops? You think users will be grateful for all the free games they used to get? I can tell you from experience, any time you take something away from users they get real mad.

Not going to convert me to buying from them, I collect the free games just to cost epic money. I very much dislike their buying exclusives, even more so with the way they did it with some games just days before they were suppose to launch.

And the gravy train will stop, they will run through that fortnite money soon the way they are burning through it.

Yeah
But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steam free games are bad, shady, money grabs, or just old xbox games type
If you're arguing over free games, I've gotten a bunch elsewhere. GOG has older games; itch has a grab bag of indie games.

I've just lazily ignored Epic anyway. And with Steam messing up their launcher client, I've stopped buying from Steam too.
Steam is selling games with frequent discounts so you can buy what you actually want rather then pilling up games in your library just because they're free. *lol* *sarcasm*

Features, and other things? Steam.

Free games only, and nothing else matters? Epic.

Not sure by your question exactly, but I try to point to either one.

So, another, *I want free stuff demand* thread? If so then this thread may get lock in due time.

but seriously there been so many game on steam sold at 80% discount and more I don't feel valve need to start giving games away to convince me it's client is worth using.

Valve doesn't give away the games unless it is tied to an event. The games own devs/pubs do.

The day Epic closes the faucet of free games is going to be loads of fun...

Use multiple platforms to get all the deals and discounts. Then use the GOG galaxy app to see every game you own on multiple platforms on the one client.

So another give me free stuff thread.
Wonder how i got 2 free games from steam the last week alone, since no free games are given away on steam.

Why bother try to compare them?

I have both steam and epic, so I can get the best of both worlds - why limit yourself to just one?

sure it's easier to manage and less hassle with just 1 account, but there's nothing stopping you from having both.

Nah, instead of "They give out free games!" people will just say "They gave out a lot of games foe free!" because freebies makes you immune to criticism.

Seems you need to check out the list of games that Epic has given out. All older games, all games I either already own, have played or dismissed as not being interested.

But sure, apparently games like Tomb Raider, Total War Shogun 2 and Injustice, God among Us are so much more terrible. :steamfacepalm:
