Remote Play - trying to force LAN, not working
I have two computers on the same WiFi network. Each is within ten feet of the access point, they're just in different rooms. I'm trying to get them to connect directly via Remote Play. Internet searches indicate that I should be able to use this command via the Steam console:

connect_remote <ip address>:27036

However, when I type that command I immediately get two popups on top of each other.

The first one says <pc name> is no longer available.
The second one says <pc name> is available for streaming.

I'm baffled and frankly pretty annoyed that Steam isn't smart enough to route streaming traffic over the same subnet to keep it snappy. Any insights?

NM. Apparently the behavior I just described is how it's supposed to work. It "resets" the connection directly by IP address, but the only feedback is those two popups. After that, my Remote Play performance was a lot more consistent (although it was still WiFi, so not great).

If anyone finds this, the steps are:

1. Launch Steam using Windows' "Run" dialogue and pass the -console parameter.
2. Click on "Console" in the menu above and type connect_remote <ip address>:27036
3. You should see the popups like I did.
4. Begin streaming the game you want to play.
