The "Undertale Fandom" Rant

Hello there, Got you by the click bait didn't i? Anyway, Yes, this is a rant about the Undertale FANDOM, Not the Game, Even though, The fandom ruined the game for me, But anyway, Lets move on

So you might be thinking that the undertale fandom is the best right?

Right?

No

Its almost as bad as sonic, But let me explain why that is

You see, When comparing A fandom with a fandom, Theres a big chance someone will say "Our Fandom is Better!"

This is the problem here, Because that my friends is the problem with undertale

The problem with undertale is that, People keep shoving it down everyones throats, Left and Right, Hell, Undertale is everywhere on youtube

And literally everywhere, Im not joking

In Videos, Commenter Avatars, Commenter Names, Comments, On videos that have nothing or something to do with undertale

Other then that, Undertale has sent Death Threats to 2 People

Not Cute little Undertale Deaththreats like "Its kill or be killed"

Real Life Death Threats

The first one is a streamer that was going to do a blind run, But when she killed toriel, Everyone sent death threats to her to Reset the game and do the True Pacifist Run,

Aswell as the creator of "So Sorry" (AKA the troll boss in the undertale beta) Got Death threats for whatever reason, But they did get them,

They even cheated a GameFAQ's 2015 Best Game Award

It was proven that a bot was used

This Makes Other games that had bad fandoms (Fnaf, Sonic, ETC) Look like saints

"But you just have to play the Game!"

I have already, But your fandom completely ruined it

I can even Prove other fandoms are better then this, Lets take the FNAF Fandom

The worse thing they did is spam call a pizzeria, Scott actually went out of his way to stop this, And the pizzeria had some sort of fnaf promotion where you could get a discount on your pizza, Pretty ♥♥♥♥in nice

I have not seen Toby Fox do this with his fans
Toby Fox Himself, Said on a tweet that he hates his own fandom

Congratulations Undertale Fandom, You once were a decent fandom, But now its Worse then FNAF, Thats the internet for you

The only thing I hate about the undertale fandom is that it turned from a quirky little fandom to an disgusting and very graphic fanbase real quickly. The game is awesome, the fanbase is cancer

It's probably a good thing that I don't regularly visit YouTube, and when I do, I usually have some specific videos in mind that I want to watch. Not subscriptions, videos.

And 99% of the time, those videos that I want to watch do not include YouTubers.

In any case, I waited for the fandom to die down before really considering the game.

You know, the only time I ever hear about Undertale is that some one like OP is hating on it for no reason. so what its "all over" youtube youtube is big and you could easily avoid it by not looking at those videos, and thus you wont get any recomendation from it on your homepage. allso want to point out i got a death thread from a The devision fan when it was under pre release because i did not liking the option setting they did not have. i dont really go around and hating it nor looking after their fandom.

So the solution seems simple. As you can't control others behavior, if said behavior bothers you so much, then choose not to interact with it. Undertale is a single player game and you can merely avoid and ignore the social aspects i.e. the fandom.

You don't have to read Youtube comments, forum posts etc. That's an optional component of the game that you choose to induldge in, despite it being such a negative experience. Rabid fandom is just a byproduct of internet culture in general. It's not exclusive to any game or even any medium of entertainment and I honestly doubt anyone could objectively show that fans of x are worse than fans of y.

It has it's bad side, but there's still a decent amount of the fandom that is good. Most of the cringy parts of it flock to popular places like Youtube, giving the illusion that the entire fandom is horrid. The good side is usually silent, making it seem like it isn't there.
