If someone want to be game creator they have to start small like indie games befor they can even think of enyting bigger. If not giving even a chance to show theyr game in here then where? make small homepage and try to share it there where nobody can find it or make another market place whit nothing but indie games. allong side whit gog galaxy, origin and uplay
The more games, the better. For every game there is at least one person who genuinely enjoys it, so why not? I wouldn't care if all the hentai games would be banned for good, but there are tons of people who are into this kind of stuff. You can filter you store.
As for early access, I invested in two games so far. One was pretty disappointing while the other blew my mind for almost 700h. Removing and banning are the worst possible solutions. There are people who would like to see every shooting game removed, who would decide what game is 'good enough'?
This
Actually majority of people hate those games Like poor survival games and trust me there are tons of them most of the cheap games are also ♥♥♥♥♥
And obviously someone likes them or they wouldn't come to Steam anymore.
Do not mistake "I don't like it" with "the majority of people"
You are free to not like something. But don't for a second think you represent "the majority of people"
That part is quite dreadfull to see - just see "Snowman from Russia" that launched today...
And that does "drown out" the better games and projects out there, cause they are there and Early Acces has launched quite a big number of projects that turned out VERY good over time - an example being Subnautica that has been in early acces for years, but are growing and supported quite a lot - Prison Architecht that also has been highly praised all around.
So it is, imo quite a big bit of balancing.
I personally think Steam should hold developers more accountable for their content. It shouldn't be enough to release something that just barely works, early acces should be at least technically working, just lacking content and tweaking, not just a "tech demo".
I do, however, love that the refund function works as it is. This should prevent alot of those games from ever going anywhere.
Another issue is the lack of editing in what the store shows us. I too would love to tone down certain genres quite alot, but steam isn't that great at recognising what i DONT want to see. I would love an option to opt out of certain tags, companies etc, but this doesn't seem posible - yet
I think TF2 is awful and should be removed from Steam.
With so many users on Steam, ALL games are probably dislioked by a majority of the users.
Remeber when people wanted every game to be on Steam? There we have them.
The OP is right - far too many new releases on Steam are objectively extremely poor - and it isn't just about games you like and games you don't like. Eventually this growing mountain of noxious waste will start hitting first Steam's reputation and then its bottom line and eventually they'll act.
Until then the coven that insists that there is no game so bad that it shouldn't be here will continue to gang bang anyone who asks why there are so many really poor games on Steam.
S.x.
Apparently gamers are too feeble-minded and gullable to make their own decisions. They have such poor judgement of what's good and bad for them, acceptable or unacceptable to them and must be protected by the SJW's like Gallifrey and the OP from their horrible decision making skills.
Gamers need to stand up to these people who judge them so weak minded, they will continue to think that there is an objective way to judge other people's subjective tastes and likes.
Until then the coven of poeple who think thwey can tell you what to do with your money will continue to gang bang anyone who tells them to mind their own business.
1. What are these objectively bad games (I have heard examples like Anime games which clearly there are people that like, and crappy survival games but no examples and clearly there are a lot of people that like survival games so both of these sound very subjective so far)? If they are objectively bad what are the criteria for this?
2. Even should there actually be games that fall into this category why is that a problem? If you don't like a game hit Not Interested and move on, if nobody buys it the company making it won't make anymore. If you do buy an objectively bad game (in spite of the presumably mass of reviews bad mouthing it) you can refund it and you are out no money.
There's no real objective criteria. Any such criteria will by its nature capture games that do not fit that.
"bad graphics" - Whats under your bed
"buggy" - Goat Simulator
"been done before and failed" - Minecraft
There isn't really a problem.
1) Unlike in a retail store, there is unlimited shelf space. As such a title being on the store does not supplant another title not being on it.
2) visibility is a problem regardless of how many 'bad' titles are on steam. Games are not failing because some nonsense game is on Steam. 'good' games have failed before. They will fail in the future too. It sucks but its just how the market works.
Me too! So many games that have no place in a reputable store.
TF2 - F2P trash that supports itself through microtransactions.
Mount & Blade: Warband - Indie trash. Get real developers, selling real games.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare - More Indie trash.
Skyrim - The game has over 1000 documented bugs! There's even an "unofficial patch" you can get that fixes them. Why does Steam sell this?
Arma III - Well known for being so poorly optimised that even $4k computers have problems. But what do you expect from some Indie developer?
Garry's Mod - 1) Indie trash. 2) Not even a real game. 3) You have to buy other games - which aren't even made by the same company - to unlock all of the content.
Europa Universalis IV - $40 game. $250 in DLC. Steam will let you get away with anything as long as they get a cut.
