DSR and integer upscaling are completely different - in fact, they're somewhat opposite in many cases. First off, DSR *downscales* from an image of higher resolution than your monitor's native resolution, while Lossless Scaling *upscales* from an image of lower resolution. As rendering at a higher resolution always requires more system resources, the performance hit will be greater to use DSR. By upscaling at an integer value, you are simply multiplying the pixels by a whole number factor - you are not "creating" more detail from an image, but simply mapping it in a clean and precise way to a higher resolution screen. DSR on the other hand, has you rendering an image at a higher resolution (more detail) but then interpolating it down to a resolution that will fit on your screen - the main benefit is a smoother, more antialiased appearance than if you had simply rendered the image at your screen's native resolution.

In short, use Lossless Scaling to make images of a lower resolution than your display's native resolution appear their best when enlarged. Commonly you will use this to upscale games to a high resolution 4k or 5k resolution display whilst keeping system performance impact at a reasonable level. Use DSR to render images of a higher resolution than your display's native resolution, then downscale them to your display - which creates a highly detailed image with a beneficial antialiasing effect, but comes at the cost of increased system resource usage. Commonly you will use this when you have a powerful GPU and system but are still running on a 1080p display.

Hopefully that was clear!
