When you open the map in TDU2, there is no framerate limit. Due to low scene complexity, if you have vsync=off the framerate gets so high that the graphics card gets severly stressed generating more heat.
Try these two tests:
1) Turn vsync on in game then see if map works without crashing.
2) Use MSI Afterburner +RTSS then in RTSS, limit framerate to 60 and see if map works without crashing.
Post back with results once tested.
Fair enough.
As it is a fresh Win 10 install,
go into Power Settings,
then Advanced,
then Change What The Power Button Does,
then untick Fast Boot.
Now shutdown PC then retry TDU2 (after turning PC back on)
I suspect it to be Win 10 being annoying - hence disable fast boot suggestion.
or
Could just be current drivers on RTX cards may be problematic.
or
Could just be something unique to playing some older games on RTX cards.
I'm sorry I can't test myself as I don't have RTX.
Give disable fast boot a try though as it fixes a lot of annoying Win 10 issues.
hth
If you list the things you have tried I might have some other suggestions but without knowing what you have tried I can't really say much other than RTX does seem to have trouble currently eg hardware failure, driver issues regarding stability and artifacting etc. NVIDIA are still pushing driver updates to resolve issues but regarding TDU2 stability it could be driver related or it could be game related specific to TDU2.
Feel free to post what you tried and I will stay subbed to this thread.
That isn't how it works though, this issue could be resolved with driver updates by NVIDIA going forward.
It is too early to tell.
it isn't nvidia's prerogative to support a game this old, especially one that is no longer available for purchase digitally
That wasn't my point, my point was RTX launch drivers have been shaky in general so NVIDIA may still be ironing out issues which in turn have the positive knockon effect of resolving the RTX TDU2 issue.
I was being optimistic and not suggesting NVIDIA would specifically target the issue just for this game.
Granted I could have been clearer though ;o)
Offtopic - nice profile, always looks good when people do that with background artwork.
The game is old so I will be able to run it with that GPU, not in ultra settings but that's better than nothing.
I contacted nvidia to report this issue with the rtx because it is probably the driver as I can open the map sometimes without any crash of my game :)
