So Raytracing won’t be fixed?
I thought after a feed days there will be a Hotfix/patch to fix the Raytracing situation, but after two weeks still nothing at all? Why?

Yeah they really should do something . RN the raytracing option is just unusable
They have more important stuff do now. They must implememt more weard stuff in game. Fixing engine in last what they do :6thstreet:

We're approaching 2 months since release.

Remember it next time WB releases a game. Once they get your money, they dont give a ♥♥♥♥ how the game runs.
Is there any game where raytracing is stable? Like I can't think of any game where enabling it doesn't cut your FPS to 1/4 while also causing stutters.
There's a mod on the nexus which does its best to fix it. On many platforms it even works - but it's not a "one size fits all", you'll have to test it. Looks for "Ultra Plus" there.
I would have expected a raytracing-related hotfix too in this scenario. I mean, we are talking about something that did work before (it arguably didn't look great, but it did at least work), that is now demonstrably broken in reproducible ways since the last patch, and that hasn't been addressed in any way for 2 weeks and counting.

My impression is that the developers are focusing on getting the remaining console releases done, and have largely shelved any work on the PC port until that is done.

I do expect them to fix the raytracing mess eventually, as it's really embarrassing and doesn't do their reputation any favors. But it may take a while.

Yes but you must have 40XX series card :/

I have lots of games where raytracing works fine. But I also have an RTX 4090. In fact, what I can say is that I recall no other raytracing-enabled game in my fairly extensive library whose raytracing is broken in such a fundamental way as it currently is in Hogwarts Legacy.

Personally, I believe that raytracing was added to consumer video cards at least 2 generations too early, perhaps even 4. It's still more of a gimmick than a viable artistic tool. But if a game advertises having it, then I would like it to actually work, please. :)

About Hogward you have right, is broken. I have 4070 and raytracing also works fine in other games. Looks insane in Cyberpunk or Witcher3, and with Frame Generator have insane ammount of FPS in this games. YOu have 4090 so you dont need Frame Generator. Card is overpower in native xD

Also not true about to early, have 2070 and game sworks fine also but not that high FPS like on 4070. But... you also have right here, but now 40XX cards show how properly RTX works in games.

By "introduced too early", I mean that raytracing isn't (in my experience) yet at a stage where it can truly make an impact on games. Small amounts of raytracing can be added to current-generation games, but it's often limited to one small part of the graphics engine (like games having only raytraced reflections, or only global illumination, but no other raytracing features). I have yet to find a game where the graphics blow me away _because of_ the raytracing. (Feel free to make suggestions. :) )

I think there may be a future ahead of us where raytracing makes a bigger impact on games, but we're not there yet. Fully raytraced games like Quake, Portal, or Amid Evil do exist, but they show the limitations of the current technology even more than its strength. Portal RTX ran like a slide-show despite my 4090, but I should probably revisit it, it got several optimization passes since I tried playing it.

Raytracing is a lack of skills on the developer side. It's being proven across the board on games today. So even though some amazing technology comes out, that hardware is only as good as the software and it's unfortunate that RT is not doing so well on the developer side of things. It seems to not really be worth the time or effort. I just built a new system with a Asus 4090 and 13700 for video editing and some other post and pre stuff. Sometimes I play games on it, but I notice though not really too many games that do RT correctly with accuracy with lighting, performance and true RT fully implemented features. Most games are just supporting the RT shadows and that's it.

RayTracing got completely broken in the March 8 patch. Do the maths to see how much they care.
i don't care about ray tracing, i have a HDR display that is way better than rtx lights. and lose 40FPS just for more reflections that are never realist, no thanks
FIx ray tracing already! I want all the shininess!!
