Zone chat etc for "new players"

When the heck are you able to private message someone or talk in zone chat?? i am lvl 7 and i can't do neither sofar, only local, and noone ever responds there. Spent the first 20 hours soloing and have'nt talked with another player yet :(

click on the channelname, there must be open a dropdown manu with the other names of channels.... select and you are in the other channel

Chat was broke in Thursday's update. Not sure if they've fixed it, yet.

EDI: Just checked and it's back to normal now. May want to test it again.

Im getting this same problem too, but i have found that joining other chat rooms is an adequate fix for now, ive at least been able to talk with other players and gain some useful tips on how to play.

Would think so, too. Most f2p games have some restriction for newly created chars regarding the chat system, so that e.g. goldsellers cannot spam chat with their offers, or if they do and get banned, they first have to level a new char to 10. Or there are trolls that like to create new chars for their "show" in the chat (had a game where someone was caught using 10 different chars and creating new ones every now and then just to get argumentations, fights and flamewars going..).

The chat system for private messaging and ingame mail.zone chat included only opens up after 100-200 hrs of ingame play if completed if your a silver or f2p account. its a stopgap measure to keep the system from being overloaded.

I believe is 48 hours before you can chat.

Silver Accounts start with specific chat limitations.

Initial Silver member chat status:

Rate-Limited
Broadcast Chat Restricted - No broadcasting chat forms (like yell)
Private messages only to friends

Limits are removed if one or more of the following conditions are met:

Twenty hours of play occurs across all characters on account (if you have 2 characters and play one for 16 hours and one for 4 hours, the limit will be removed).

The account has ever had a subscription / Gold Member status.

The account carries a Zen balance.

You make a Z-Store purchase on the account.

So no lvl requirement, just time spent & a Zen purchase/balance.

If you already have the 20hrs logged then exghange some Dil to get your required Zen.
Exchange rates are around 400/1 right now. A single Zen will do.

As commented above & Incase you are still having issues, keep in mind that there are & have been bugs affecting chat since the beginning of the year if not before.
