Dev Question: RENAME to 'Wytchsun' ?
Hi there. A few people mentioned concerns about ‘season 1’ in the title. Ie if there will suddenly be a season 2. To avoid confusion, were going to talk to Valve/steam about re-naming the game.

Ie likely to Elleros Origins: Wytchsun

Are people cool with this?

This may mean a relaunch of the game; and thus a free copy of the relaunch game to everyone who purchased season 1.
Plus, it lets us get some media promotion behind the game, and talk to youtubers. Which we really really need.

If it helps advertising, why not?

Agreed! That still leaves things open for sequels, or additional games that tie into the "Elleros" world. (And you can stem the potential deluge of Season 2 questions)

And any advertising is good advertising...

Why on earth would people warn on Reddit?
We did have 2 really strange reviews for the game. people playing for 1 minute only and leaving a bad review that looked more like trolling than feedback.

could i ask, why do you think its a bad idea?

our view: the game got all its reviews in the first week of launch pretty much. Every issue from then is now fixed, and it was our first experience with early access. Or releasing a game on steam. And people dont seem to change reviews once theyre made, even if the game changes.
Its eye opening

there is no 'early access' only, full release, in one regard.

At the moment the current thinking is : Everyone who purchased or used a trial key will receive a free copy of Elleros: Wytchsun when it is released.

We are totally cool with sending over some beta keys for Wytchsun if anyone wants one, send us a message.

In essence, feedback we’ve had suggested there was a lot of confusion about the title ‘season 1’. And if ie season 2 would suddenly be released. We’ve focused on Wytchsun as a main name to make things clearer.

Lesson learned, its our first computer game release.

If you would like to toss me a beta key, I'd be more than happy to try it and give an honest review. My hesitation in buying so far is due to the fact that I get motion sick from certain games, which normally eases after a couple hours of play ( I would not factor this into my review since its a personal problem)

I would like a beta key please, thank you very much and I wish you all the best with your new release.

I reviewed Elleros Origins: Wytchsun some time ago and thought it was great. I posted my video at...

I also collect games though, so would you be willing to go the other way and provide me with a key for this version as an existing owner of Elleros Origins: Wytchsun please?
That way I would have the full set.
Added you on Steam. Thanks.

What madness propelled you into naming it "Season 1" anyway?
And what's with the trailer? Why is it borderless full screen gameplay with awful sound and the windows task bar showing? What's wrong with you? Do you hate money?

I need to chime in here because you're asking "why" it's a bad move. You're re-releasing the same game with bug-fixes but it's under an entirely different name and an entirely different studio name. That's extremely suspicious and I've seen certain media outlets reporting on it already. Companies have tried to do this in the past (Digital Homicide is a prime example) and because of how dishonest it seemed, it backfired massively.

What's more troubling is that your justification for this is the game previously got bad reviews so you're openly saying that you're hiding from this. That, in itself, is an extremely shoddy practice.

Re-releasing a game that you closed down in Early Access is actually completely against Steams TOS, from Steams own Steamworks documentation regarding Early Access games:

Q: What happens if I don't complete my game?
A: Sometimes things don't work out as you planned, and you may need to discontinue development of your game. If this happens, you should contact Valve to figure out the next steps. Before reaching out, take a moment to carefully consider whether or not pulling your game down is actually the right choice. Are you acting based on an emotional response to negative feedback, or is retiring your game the appropriate next step? We take our relationship with customers seriously, so if you choose to cancel development of a game and retire it from the store, we will not republish it again later and we may offer refunds to any users who purchased it. Treating customers fairly is the most important thing to us. You can learn more by reading Removing a Product From Steam.
hes not gonna delete other game
