Succubus: Alpha Build v.0.666 Feedback Updated
So, here is a more detailed feedback on my impression on the alpha demo.

What I liked

The game is fluid and smooth

This is very, very important for what the game propose. Agony was clunky, I always had that constantly feels that the game was running at 30 fps or that the animations was not good enough. This feeling is gone (at least on this build), it feel that the animation has a lot more frames and things look so much more smooth. This is by far the best improvement and I hope some other minor studios can attain this aswell (yes, I'm looking to you "Lust from Beyond").

---

The Agony feels is here

Even among critics, one thing you guys did right, the looks of Hell; and it is back. The game looks better and the feeling is different and should be. You are no longer a usuless Martyr, you are a Succubus now, you should be able to see and go in places that you couldn't before, there is more action on the background, the Hell looks more "alive" than before (wich is ironic, but good). I'm curios on how the devs will explore this further. The gore and torture are there as the sex scenes on the background, but I want to see more variety on this scenes, new things that we didn't see on Agony. By the way, the sex scenes are good (both with the main character and on the background), please, much more naughty stuff (¬‿¬) .

---

The graphics are good

It's not the best looking game I ever saw, but for a indie studio I think they are very good. The scenario is much more detailed (like, it's not just rocks now), good use of the shaders to give more "light" to the enviroments and this is a good thing, the first game was way too dark sometimes. Now things are more clear and fits better the new genre of the game, the lava looks more realistic, textures are much better (maybe because of the light) and geometry of the objects are well done. There's room for improvement, I will listed them on what I dislike it.

---

Responsiveness (yes, I used the dictionary)

The response time for control inputs are better, when I click to do something and she does, I don't feel input lags (at least I don't observe them). My panel is 60 hz only (144hz is so expensive here where I live), so people with better dipslays may have a different experience, for me is good enough for my panel.

---

Menus

I know the menus are not done yet, but they are wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than those on the Agony. Sorry guys, but Agony's menu were horrible, on Succubus is so much better and cohesive. It looks better, it navigate better, oh man, it such a small thing but make such a differency when you have to use it. I only wish that the sliders for Gama and others options that use a "slider" has a number too show the current value of the slider. For fine tuning, this helps a lot.

---

**Performance: Updated 9/1/2020

**After I recorded the performance of the game with MSI Afterbuner I can't say that the game is running well. The numbers are not good and the sensation of lag is worse than I first thought. Most of the fights I got 60 FPS or lower (48 FPS was a common number), this is not a good experience on a fast pace game. The paragraph below continues to be accurate, so I will keep him**

The transitions from different enviroments does not seems to have any "lag", the same when the camera change from First Person to Third Person. Moving the camera fast does not lag the game either, this is a very much welcome improvement. In general, the game looks much better than Agony and perform better too. The game was install on a Hard Drive and the loading times were very good, nothing to complaining here.

---

Weapons

I liked the Blades (hotkey 1)... the powers were nice (fire ball with the Blades and with hands, don't know if there's any difference besides the animation) and... yeah.

---

The new features

The "healing pregnant woman", it's brutal, lots of people will curse each one member of the developer team because of that, it's hellish, I liked. More of these would be great \o.

---

What I did not like

Combat

So... it's a crowded and that is. Sometimes, is so much crowded that there is no estrategic, just pick one weapon and run smashing the attack button. You can't use the enviroments in your favor, either because there is so many things on the screen at the same time or because traps are no very well positioned when are few enemies; the enemies lack challeging, therefore I don't feel compeling on trying to use the enviroment. Sometimes I did not even done anything and the enemies would go killing themselfs on the "Tentacles" because there were so many people on the same space; it's like trying to catch the train at rush hour. It's lacks deep, variety, the weapons does not seem to have the impact that their weight suggest, specially the Hammer; this has to be one the most boring "special" weapon I ever used.

If you guys are aiming for a fast pace action, wich looks like, the enemies need to show more "quality over quantity", the player need to be challenged to try different aproachs, the enemies has to offer different "problems" for us to solve. I don't mind have to fight "some" hordes, some, less hordes, more challenging enemies. Right now, every enemy on the game can be beat by just smashing the attack button. And the Blades are the only somewatch fun weapon, the Sword and Scythe work identical (they only look different and the Scythe has a slow animation). I do not feel satisfy killing enemies and I'm controlling a Succubus, wich should be one the strongs beings on hell, but I'm not feeling it. And, if you want to put hordes of enemies, we need a crowd control ability, one that has impact, that when you use you feel ♥♥♥♥ing Bad ♥♥♥.

---

IA

Dumb as hell. They just run on you, no strategic, no fear, no objetic, they just run at you. By the way, you know the thing I saided before? "we are controlling the Succubus, one of the most strong beings on hell"? So, when we a facing these hordes of weak and pathetic enemies, when they numbers start to thin, they should start to show fear, I'm stronger than them, I'm positioned on a higher hierarchy. Enemies need to have "emotions" for me to feel I'm beating something alive, not just a bunch of puppets. Animation of roars, screamings, temptives of intimidations, signs of fear, angry, all this stuff are small details that we may not see all of them on the middle of the fight, but they are important, they give life to the game. The IA has to have a more realistic behave and the animations needs to help hit that; when you see a enemie slip-up, trumble on stuff because he is trying to get up or run from you, these minor details great improve the player experience and the quality of the game.

---

Enemies and prisioner textures/modeling

Ok, the graphics are good and some effects are really nice; the lava is great \o. But the enemies are ugly and look like they are on are lower resolution compared to the rest of the game. The prisioners too, they kind stand out negatively. This problem was common on Agony, but that was a different scenario, first game, much tight budget. Now I want this things to be more polish, because some models does not fit with the good looking enviroments. The shadows could benefict from improvements aswell, we are in hell, I'm sure there's places where you guys can have "a more cinematic use for the shadows".

---

Performance issues

I know this is not that much important right now, but the game can't have frame drops on the middle of the fight. If the idea is bring hordes of enemies, than this issue need to be take in consideration. I'm playing on a 1080 Ti, not everybody will have that many horsepower under the hood. The lava waterfall are gorgeous, but the framerate drops when you looking at it and sometimes there are enemies nearby; I'm pretty sure one time my fps dropped as low as 20 fps, it was quick moments, but everytime I looked at the lava waterfall the framerate dropped, really annoying.

---

Climbing

When we are climbing the game shows the button we are suppose to press. Ok, no problem, but they are QTE (Quick Time Events) or just a indication of what button should I press to progress? I kind like what Crystal Dinamic and Naughty Dog did on Tomb Raider and Uncharted, it's linear, you know that there is only so much places you can go when climbing, but feels so much more natural and cool. I'm not asking you guys to match what they done (wich is impossible, they are Triple AAA games backing up with tons of money), but to be inspired on them so these sections of the game feels more natural and organic; I should know my way withouth having to wait the game show me where should I go.

---

Animations

Enemies animations are not good and need improvements; they need to feel more natural. And the Succubus animations could get some improvements, especially when the camera angle change to Third Person on the climbing scenes, I saw some very weird movements (like the character floating to a point instead of moving/walking to there).

---

UI

User interface in game is good, but I think it can be better. A little of polishing on the visual elements and a tinkering on the animations where is fit. Can't say if they display enough information because I don't have acess to the full game and all skills, but it look descent and does not take your attention away of the action on the screen.

---

I think this is it, can't remember anything more right now. Would be nice to see a nice "character customization" and other surprises you guys stored for us. I hope this feedback is detailed and comprehensive enough (english is not my main language and I'm consider my "English" on the Advance state, I'm not fluency on the language, so sometimes is hard to pass on my thoughs).

My PC Specs

- i7 5820K
- GTX 1080 Ti
- 16 GB DDR4 2666 MHz
- LG Display 60 Hz IPS
- SSD Intel 660p 1 TB (for the OS, main applications and games)
- Seagate HD 1 TB 7200 RPM (the game was installed here)

you pretty much listed the issues i had as well and mentioned it on their site after the game. however, i had no fps drops in ultra settings. combat was smooth all the time.
my rig:
i7 4790 3.6ghz
r9 290x 4gb
16gb ram
win 7 64bit

however, i had some glitching and stretching. not all the time but occasionally. and yes, the graphics need to be sharper. i had everything set to ultra. well, the game did for me.
regarding enemies, they move and all the same, making it hard to identify who they are.

i have taken over 20 screenshots. i hoped i can add them on their feedback page but not possible. i may send them by email to show what i found.

Ok, I confirmed, the framerate drops has nothing to do with the lava. Is on one open area more close to the end of the demo; a place where is a kind "tree with spikes and lava surround it". For some reason, I got some drops there, don't know why.

Strange indeed. The entire demo ran smooth for me. Will play it again and see. Maybe i may find something else.

It's a alpha version, so I would bother too much on this right now. I just mentioned to keep this topic in mind when the game get's near to be finish.

Oh, it was to see if i find anything else that i missed. Like the combat, try out different methods, how it looks, feels.
For an alpha version, its surprisingly pretty good. The only issues i found are some glitches. Things that can be fixed for the final product.

Here is the numbers recorded with MSI Afterburner of one playthrough, from the Start of the game until the end of it. The record started in game (not on the menus) and ended when I reached the boss.

09-01-2020, 11:08:23 Succubus-Win64-Shipping.exe benchmark completed, 76482 frames rendered in 936.594 s
Average framerate : 81.6 FPS
Minimum framerate : 27.5 FPS
Maximum framerate : 230.5 FPS
1% low framerate : 28.2 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 12.1 FPS
Driver Version: 441.08

The game is fun, I want to play more, but the performance of the game will clearly need a lot work.

PS: This build of the alpha has one annoying bug. When you close the game the new Steam library still show the gaming running and I can't stop or kill it. The only solution is to restart the Steam.
