I am a 55 year old biker and trucker father, and probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my son many happy memories.

I usually try and leave a more descriptive review or atleast something that gives a big idea of what you're getting into, but this time around due to the fact that this game is such a simple and easy sell, well i'm foregoing that.

If you love Boomer Shooters/games like Doom, Quake, Shadow Warrior, Duke Nukem, Ion Fury etc than you must buy this game.

Sidenote: There's two versions of this game(which you get if you buy the redux version), imo the original version is so far the superior version(I say so far because i'm currently still beating the redux version), so I would start with the original version and than play redux(which is still very worth playing as a 2nd playthrough due to the new adjustments). Why? Well for starters the original version is harder(imo), its also closer to the style of Doom/Quake/Duke, while the redux version adds some modernizations that make it well play more like current fps like Bulletstorm and Titanfall etc. The redux version adds a dodge button and infinite sprint that drastically changes the difficulty of the game(making the game alot easier and forgiving), the original there was no dodge and you had limited sprint which made you had to strategize when and where to sprint(and try and use it as a pseudo form of last minute dodge) which added alot to the intensity and difficulty. Just to compare difficulties, I had a decent enough difficult time playing the original on hard mode, but I had to set redux to insane mode simply because the new mechanics made the game too easy for the lower difficulties, to the point it felt automated. Insane difficulty thankfully raises redux version difficulty enough to justify the added dodge and infinite sprint, and im having a blast playing it.

Couple of other things worth noting, redux version now has a flashlight which is bittersweet, it makes enemies way easier to see(the original version enemies looked so dark and blended so well with the backgrounds that sometimes they were downright impossible to see making things unfair and frustrating, its worse if you play on a lower resolution tv) but at the same time it takes away from the techno horrorish atmosphere, I got scared a few times due to not being able to see enemies sneak up on me, which isnt the case with the redux version. Enemies are rebalanced, their placements have been adjusted in some areas, enemies that appear later in the game now appear sooner. I think some items have also had their placements changed(or maybe they added more?) Switching guns and gunmodes is alot easier and forgiving aswell(huge improvement for me). Also idk if its a bug but it seems I can double jump sometimes in redux, something you couldnt due in the origninal, atleast that im aware of.

Um but yeah thats it for now, if I end up thinking Redux version is superior i'll alter this review or if I notice anything new/different.

BUY THIS GAME BOOMER SHOOTER LOVERS :)

Solid game worth it on sale, just make sure to get the Redux version, it's basically the same game but with more polish and small quality of life changes. The game itself is a solid shooter, but don't go in expecting something stunningly engagive or immersive, this is just a game where you move and shoot with some story sprinked in. And to be clear, this isn't a cover or movement shooter, the game relies on positioning and using crowd control tools to survive and fight effectively.
