Puyo Puyo Champions
Character name changes for the English localisation
Even characters who aren't playable have their new English names shown in the profile icon selection.

These are the new names I've seen:

Seriri = Serilly
Lagnus = Ragnus
Oshare Bones = Dapper Bones
Frankensteins = Frank & Stein
Tarutaru = Tartar
Hohow Bird = Hoho
Strange Klug = Possessed Klug

I'm okay with these new names for the most part, except I think Lagnus = Ragnus was an entirely unnecessary change.

As far as my Japanese knowledge goes, R is appropriate for the beginning of a word and L for the end of a word. Hence why Aruru is localized as Arle. So Ragnus does make sense if you think about it.

Not counting Strange Klug, the English names that got changed have had their original names (and what's usually the most commonly used ones) appear in Minna or Fever. Strange Klug is what most fans have translated his name to, though. Besides, the only way you're supposed to know that Klug is being possessed in Puyo Fever 2 is in Amite's HaraHara Course. As far as you'd know for Sig and Raffina, Klug is simply acting odd, hence the name Strange Klug.

Ragnus is a real name right?

I don't think so... Why did SEGA do this when they already used Lagnus in Minna?
Most of those aren't changes, they are romanizations. Like Rinku -> Link and Kuraudo -> Cloud to use a couple of popular game characters for example. And oshare means fashionable, same as dapper.

They are changes, though, because these were the names used in previous English-language Puyo games. An English-speaking Puyo fan who played Puyo Pop for GBA would remember a character named Lagnus, regardless of how the Japanese versions were. So for this person, the change to Ragnus IS a change.
UPDATE: I've been talking about this with a friend, so here are some new ones I've been informed about:

Yellow Satan = Onesie Prince
Yu & Rei = Rei & Yu
Unusual Ecolo = Alter Ecolo

Considering how I've been mostly sour (as is my friend) about these new changes, I think that the Yellow Satan change is really cute. The change for Yu & Rei, however, annoys me so much as it kills the pun in their names(combining their names results in Yurei, the Japanese name for ghost).
Ragnus should have been Ragnas. The "a" makes a world of difference, and makes him sound 20% cooler. I'm pretty sure the Rei & Yu thing is just an error, though.
((Kind of a terrible self ad sorry but it fits the topic of the subject)) I actually made a mod that undid the locale names + Dark Prince if the locale changes bother you https://gamebanana.com/guis/34676 :YellowPuyo:

That's subjective... also why "20% cooler" just by swapping a vowel?
