examine the mailboxes the tutorial instructs me to try to pry them open with something
in my inventory. I'll would like to try that but the mailboxes are not hotspot anymore after I looked at them the first time. The hotspot "intercoms" next to them is still available. If I use that I get a closer look but can't interact with anything in this picture and I can't leave the picture either.
It's not clear _where_ shall we follow them but I'm sure they will ping all the kickstarters. ;-)
Here's the reason we haven't released those versions yet: during the tests, we encountered several problems we weren't able to solve due to the Visionaire engine version we were using. After many discussions, Insult Sword Fights™ and a few sleepless nights, we took a hard but necessary decision: rebuilding the entire game with the newest version of the engine.
There is a lot of work to do, but we're happy to report you that the latest tests are very promising, as we encountered only minor bugs while we were finally able to solve the biggest ones.
This new version of the engine will also allow us to develop the Switch porting of THOG, therefore from now on we're aiming at a (almost) simultaneous release of the MAC, Linux and Switch versions of the game. We don't have a precise release date for you, but we'd like to publish them after this summer!
We all hope that you'll progress well with the Linux version. I am sorry that it have caused additional work but maybe the switch version will pay for it. ;-)
All the work will be worth it, in the end. And the most important thing is that we really wanted to keep our word!
We're in need of testers for the MAC and Linux version of The Hand of Glory.
Feel free to contact us in the comments or by sending an email to:

In a facebook debate it turned out that the native Linux beta version (accessible by the password above) is actually working almost perfectly! It seems to use a new framework (visplayer) and works really well (for me, at least).
I don't know abou you, but I haven't seen any Madit announcement here or elsewhere, despite that Stefano believes he sent one. :-) But, anyway, good news is good news!
For me the saved games were gone so I had to start again, but it's not a problem since I had to refresh the story anyway. (It feels like there were some details updated/fixed but I can't be sure, it's just a feeling.)
I am done with part 1 (again), only seen really small bugs (mostly Lars flashing but it only happened twice in the whole part), CPU usage is extremely low and music/fx is perfect.
Thank you all the people working hard and long :----) on that!
[UPDATE:] Sorry, almost forgot! The Steam version can't start [as of now] since it want to start "handofglory.exe" or similar. The game can be started by going to ".../games/steam/steam/steamapps/common/The Hand of Glory/" and running "./start"
manually on console, or the equivalent way using clickety-click.
The official announcement is on the news section, but I reckon it's not a section that people usually visit. We'll make another announcement when the Linux version will be in the default branch and not a beta!
For everyone, the password above should give you a version of the game which had a couple of bugs we should have fixed (at least, our testers didn't encounter them anymore).
The new version is accessible by using the password: 5OkXDS84ySdA
Grin, this particular password doesn't work for you? What do you get when you use it?
About the start problem: we struggled for days in order to solve it, but after a research we found out that it is a problem of Steam when you use Proton to launch a game. Sometimes, Steam gets stucked and continues to download the Windows version. If that happens, try to disable Proton from Steam. You should see a new update. If you don't, keep enabling and disabling Proton until you see the update!
Forcing the "compatibility tool" "Linux runtime" (not sure about the exact name) might help too.
Are you going to release it without password soon?
First I have to find and secure saved games because I do not want to play part1 yet again.
I'll check how it behaves, as soon as I secured the saves! ;-)
Yep, during Christmas sales!
But, but... I want to pay full price! :)
Thanks for your Linux support!
