Liking it a lot so far!
Nice puzzle concept! I'm at 7th floor and having a blast! A bit stuck as well but each timeI crack another impossible looking puzzle it feels so satisfying.

Great job, puzzle designers!

Hey Corey, how many levels are there in the Steam version compared to the LD one?

There are 55 in the final game, 13 in the jam version, maybe 7 or 8 are in both versions.

Thanks for the answer - would try out later!

This game has a high level of difficulty.
Corey Martin  [developer] Oct 21, 2018 @ 7:13pm
@DogDripz yes, but you can beat it! :)

Yes, some levels are hard and some seem impossible to be solved.
The more fun is it to complete them.
This is another great game from the developer of "Pipe Push Paradise".
Thank you! I enjoyed it, also!

I actually discovered the existence of this game while writing a review for Pipe Push Paradise, through its Steam page. I enjoyed Pipe Push Paradise, but I must say I found it not quite at the same level as similar games like Sokobond, A Good Snowman is Hard to Build or Stephen's Sausage Roll (then again, what game is as good as Stephen's Sausage Roll)?
I'm enjoying Hiding Spot much more than Pipe Push Paradise. The main idea is quite hilarious, in a dark humour kind of way, and the puzzles feel much smarter, less long, convoluted and dull than the previous game (the bonus island there was quite brilliant, though). The mechanics are well thought and feel fresh. I'm currently stuck in room 709 and I'm loving it. The game has a lot of "this seems impossible" moments, and those are the best in puzzle games.
Congratulations.
I don't know if I missed it, but is the "you can pull something over your head when your character can't go backwards" mechanic ever explained?

@Simbabbad I understand, that's a fair stance on PPP. Glad you're having a nicer time with this one.

Nothing is verbally explained anywhere, but you're presented with puzzles that can only be solved that way starting on the third floor. I considered having a puzzle that really hands the solution to you, but imo 301 is probably generous enough. Most playtesters came across that move before even getting to the third floor, then got confused by how "easy" 301 was. Hard to say what the best design decision would have been there.

And done! I just finished the game, and I absolutely loved it. Every puzzle feels clever, and the goal of the game creates a very special atmosphere (I loved the ending on the roof). A few puzzles are particularly brilliant (the use of tables is excellent), and I mean "praising the developer out loud" brilliant. It's short, but it's not an issue, it fits the price IMO.

I actually suffer from heavy anxiety problems, including panic attacks, and that made the game all the more special to me :-) !

About the unexplained mechanic, I actually found it naturally by myself, like you intended, so it's probably not an issue. It's just that it creates the suspicion for the rest of the game that there are other mechanics that we're missing.

I also kind of expected that we could/should shut drawers when we push furniture with open drawers against a wall, but every puzzle game has its internal logic.

@Simbabbad Very grateful that you could relate to or identify with the game. Anxiety has been a big part of my life as well, and my family in general. And thanks for the kind words, I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

Yeah, I consider this a bug that I just didn't get around to fixing. I might eventually, but since it doesn't make or break any puzzles, it was lower on the priority list.

Anyway, thanks for playing :) The game is still a... uh, well-kept secret, so if you'd like to tell your friends about it i'd really appreciate it!

Don't worry, it's my intention! I'm writing a positive Steam review about it, and I'll praise it on gaming forums I know.

Ditto, I typically do my reviews and curations once I've managed to beat the game. Needless to say perhaps, that it's taking a while, because I'm stuck at a couple of the puzzles. But I'll do both of the endorsements soon!
