Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance

Graphics help?
I would like to know how to have the best Eye Candy settings without breaking my FPS.

I dont understand, is your PC low spec? this game isn't very graphic demanding, its cpu demanding.
I just want to know what setting's i should keep off so it does'nt slow down , but also what setting's i can keep on high to make the game look really good

Dosen't matter what settings you use. Eventually (usually 25 min w/o sorian AI mod, bout an hour with) the game will lag. I just finished a game where it was 10 minutes real time per second of game time.
So just depends on how long the game is?
yes, fps is depending on how much units are on the map, and how much explosions and so on and ofc depends on the grafic settings
BUT
the gamespeed DOES NOT depend on the grafic settings or fps, it depends from your CPU, your grafic setting DO NOT influence the gamespeed but only the FPS
I bought the game when it came out and bought a $1000 cpu to play it. Never regretted it.
Iron alpha their is another way to increase performance it depends on how much Ram you have in your system their is a program wich alters the forged alliance exe so that it can use more ram .... their is a 3gb version and a 4 gb version both made by diffrent people...
Right now i can't remember a link or even the name of the programs ( i know i have it on my drive somewhere so i could mail it to you it isn't big but before executing the operaration be sure to backup your old exe)

If i find the exe i'll post the name or a link to it
Thanks p-floyd
you just have to patch the forged alliance exe to a 4gb version ...
There is a Supreme Commander Performance tester built into the game it self, which can help you tweak the game a little.

Copy and paste your supreme commander icon on your desktop. right click and select properties then add to the end of the pathname for the icon. /perf

For you noobies out there you will see this:

Where it says Target :"C:\Program Files\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander\bin\SupremeCommander.exe"

Add this at the end so it looks like this: "C:\Program Files\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander\bin\SupremeCommander.exe" /perf

Click the new Icon and you will go into the games performance testing utility. Exactly the same process works for Forged Alliance too!

Different test and just some fun for you guys. Anyone playing supcom and expecting to enjoy large multiplayer games without lag issues should be looking for a score of at least 15300 sup com marks. Anything below that = [thumbdown]

Note: as a rule of thumb more MHz your CPU puts out the better the game will run ..see SC is a CPU intensive game.
Also if you are playing with other players check to see who is really slowing the game down with the following command

f you're lookng to boost sim speed you need to either play small maps or get a better cpu. Those are the only ways to do it.

If however you are just lookng to boost fps a little, then theres a few things to do that will really help.
1) Turn off antialiasing
2) Turn off range circles

These two are the biggest sources of fps drops.
