But: There are a ton of external programs that allow you to bind double clicking to a single button or keyboard key, maybe that might be a solution for you?
However for just double clicking you can use an Auto Clicker which are very light and easy to set up; personally I´ve used this one:

Now this is meant more for clicking like hundreds of times per second if necessary but set it to repeat once, clicktype double, pick your hotkey and you are good to go.
it works well for me
Just scroll fast enough for it to be registered as a double click.
It's very powerful, free and let you map a double click of the mouse to any key
