Why is the Player Population So Low?
Why is the player population so low? Is it because it's just a reskin or something?

oh that's not bad, I plugged it into https://steamcharts.com/ and it showed 150 something, but upon closer look it was showing stats for something else. That site doesn't show Steel Division 2

i'd blame the genre more than the game. Games like this usually have a lower player base due to the learning curve and what not.

I'm perfectly happy with 1500 to 2000, that's not bad at all for this type of game. Most of the Top 10 games are all Free Games anyway and I figure that's why they're popular.

It is low considering the servers a spread throughout the world.

Red dragon could easily hold 2k until 2019 had a long while with 10k......Normandy 44 held 2k for a long time, and was around 4k on release....so NOT normal, a consistant drop overall period.

THIS is why I refunded, game is an improvement nut the MP base just isn't there. Even for the franchises standards (and there ARE reasons they took some hits, not talking about the DLC stuff either.) It has NOT hit 2k concurrent players btw, people already trying to boost a false image.

This is why they KNEW they needed a full featured Single player camp sysyem, otherwise it would have been DOA.

So yeah, just know in a bout 3 months that 1.4k max it has been able to..."reach" will be in the 100s...no joke and its not something I would wan't, it's just going to happen.

eventually it will only be like ~20 people in your region playing....and they will STILL kick you out for being a "noob."

PS: people will try to denie this or claim content, again I wished this game was a "Mordhau" in buys, but it's not even Squirrtopia, what's Squirrtopia?....exactly.

Some stats:

Shogun II has 3k
Normandy has around 500
Red dragon has 538
Hell, Stardew valley has...damn 12k.....

Steel Division 2 1.2k hasn't gone above 1.4k period, no 2k so. They have opted out of steam charts because it is a bad image to show such a limited base in a franchise that had such good MP.

😒. All Eugen games are on steamcharts including SD2. You need to click on it for stats to show up as with every game who just released. Or else it shows zero.

Just repeating myself here but you need to click on it for it to show. I got my stats of 1,500 (currently playing) and 2k (all time peak) on steamcharts.

Niche game in a niche genre that hasn't been advertised (damn shame). I ask myself the same thing every day about Natural Selection 2. How can a FPS so good not be as popular as pop shooters? Simply put complex games just appeal to a minority. Most people just want to kick back and fire up a game they can immediately do well at and understand, but that has a little room to improve at so they feel even better about themselves. Add in some progression elements for even more dopamine and that is it. all the happy feelings they could ask for.

1500-2000 This is official day one in fact also a holiday...it can only go down from this point.

Steamdb is far more reliable than steamchart.

Well to be fair, I'm booting up for the first time, im in my first skirmish, and I am trying to understand what the interface is even telling me.... I see 750, and some troops... i click a troop such as recon and it drops my 750 to 700.. but the icon has a number 25 in it...

I take it as this is buying more of this unit?!?! But I have no clue... I've been gaming for 35 years, i don't really see how you can't expect anyone but a diehard to be playing this... if its this obscure at start...

and don't yell at me, im here looking for the dam manual

They don't have it in-game,tons of reviewers has already covered that, don't sure how you misses that. There are one manual on their website but obsolete and inefficient for the game.
ZigzagPizzazz Jun 21, 2019 @ 9:37pm
ton's of reviewers, so there is 2000 reviewers and 1500 players? sorry for the sarcasm, but that is just solidifying my point, I want to enjoy this game, just telling you what I see, and then telling you why there aint many players.. I don't go searching for reviewers to find a manual on a game I bought. I don't go researching for hours to make a small purchase, it looked cool, seemed cool, and probably is cool.. i loved the original men of war before it was ruined, and this seemed somewhat like that with some Age of Empires like twist so here I am trying to play...

Is it so hard for a developer to provide anything to its consumers? Whatever, I really don't care for an argument, i've made my point and I'm moving on... Will i be back to play again tomorrow.. well here's more food fot thought..... why would I waste my life, on something that dont even want to tell me how to use it? Put that into your can of worms why < 2000 people are playing

You think someone who was born 15-22 years ago, knows what the heck WLA PM-37 means? you think the general public who might like war games has nothing better to do, then sit here and figure ♥♥♥♥ out on their own at the pace of a snail? When there is no actual place to go and figure it out and learn... Its their product and it will fail with their poor support decisions.. and that my friend is nothing short of marketing 101.. This game could be the greatest game ever made, and even if everyone bought it, they'd never learn or know it was

So you dont want to bother to learn something. That's up to you entirely. Iv bought games where Im still learning things after 100h of play time, because the 400 page manual is too old and the game has been change too mucj since release.

The only way to learn is to play and talk to veterans of the game.

If you don't want to invest any time learning something, don't pick that type of game, honestly, wargame series/Steel Division aint that hard to pick up, Iv learned everything about it by playing the game and watching the occasional video on YouTube.

he wants to argue with me and not understand the point... why does anyone even try to communicate on the internet.. they are all hard headed know it alls, who are responding to answering a question "Why is the player base so low" with valid points, and the responses they give are the only way to learn is to sit there and figure it out yourself...

Lol, well guess what, there will be one more refund tonite and one less player.. thanks for letting me know, not only is the game not worth my time, but neither is the community, who have already been stated to kick noobs to the curb, even if they have noone else to play against.. lol
