Check the menu top left for version 1.0.2.5 to make sure you are using the correct version

If you had any issues before playing videos, you now need to install
VLC
Check the game folder for all the details.
Be sure to select VLC under the video settings (and restart your pc if you havent installed VLC before)

Let me know if it works!

I think pushing a Linux branch for testing should be the way to go.

I'll def put it on a Beta branch but I want to play through it first. We want to include the hint / quest marker system in it which we are busy with now.

Thanks for supporting Linux, looking forward to trying it out!
I've already finished it on WIndows :P

Good for you? I think you might be in the wrong thread tho. This thread is about Linux.
Sign me up Scotty! I've put my proton playthrough on hold since ingame videos don't currently work on it.
I would be very happy to have a Linux branch!

Linux Beta access above.
Video playback works now like a charm on Linux Mint. :)
Haven't run into any bugs as of yet, but I feel that loading times are now a little bit slower than on the Windows build via Steam Play. Not by much, but it's still noticeable.

Thanks for the feedback. It was a heck of a task to get Unity and Linux to play videos correctly. Maybe tone down the settings a bit and see if you get a speed increase.
finally! Thank you
I'm gonna give this a go as well.
Tried with Steam Play, but yeah, the videos...

For some reason, Unity still makes cross-platform videos a PITA. No idea why, other engines (like Godot) don't have issues like that with videos.

I think I got the quality pretty close to the windows mp4 videos. I had to use webm due to licensing issues but at least I maintained the resolution and bitrate. I must admit the game looks great in ultrawide on Ubuntu.
I'm really, really excited to play this game! Sadly the videos don't play for me on Arch. I submitted a log. Seemed like it was trying to use "Null video player"..?

After testing some more: Same issue when starting game outside of steam. No special errors in console.

I guess I'm missing a specific codec, or maybe some version of a codec, but it's hard to troubleshoot with no errors
