Crash Fix Solution

So this is for the GOG version but it may help the steam version as well.

Indirectinput wrapper can be used to fix the crashes.

dinput.dll just needs to be pasted into "Infernal Machine\Resource" . Using Dgvoodoo, or disabling audio devices didn't work for me. Originally used this fix for episode 1 racer that would constantly crash as well on steam.

I can't see any dinput.dll there, all I can find is DINPUT.LIB and it doesn't work

It works SO much better so far, it's loaded the game every time so far and I haven't had any weapon issues. Thanks, dude!

Yeah, its basically a bug introduced in newer windows where the old game isnt compatible with so many hid input devices or controllers so it causes it to crash. You're welcome buddy, enjoy ^^

OK Got this installed on a different computer now. The game's installed fine, but even with these new files it still crashes when I use a non-pistol weapon like the Rifle, SMG or Shotgun. Machette works fine, but it's dodgy with everything else. Any suggestions?

I tried placing that into the resource folder and then booted up the game once more, and it's still crashing. Is there any other fixes for this?

Dgvoodoo might help you'd have to mess with me the options there's also the gog wrapper/version you can get. Unfortunately this game was buggy as hell on even windows 98.

I'd love to help but in my experience this game was buggy even on windows 98. So it's even worse on modern systems. Gog version might work better but it may vary. I was using that version was working fine then had to find this fix it wouldn't even load the game.

It's OK. Like you said, this game's extremely buggy at the best of times, so at this point I'm just grateful it even works at all and just playing sans the big weapons. The stronger pistols usually do just fine and I can usually get away with the rifle.

doesn't work here, game ran fine until one of the latest win 10 updates. any help?

game doesn't start up, black screen for a couple of seconds than back to desktop

Just wanted to say my GOG version wasn't starting and I added this file and now it works again. I don't know if it was Windows 11 or my GPU upgrade that caused the problem, but it works perfectly now.

Basically the game gets confused when multiple direct input drivers are installed back when this game came out it wasnt common for computers to have that.

I've heard from some other people disabling multiple audio devices helps.
