SOLVED: Can't run the game above 800x600. Upper left corner of the screen enlarged.
My game can't run this game above the noted resolution without resulting in the screen being super zoomed into one corner of the screen. Neither 1024x768, nor anything else. This applies with and without the unofficial patch, and for some reason applies to both this high end desktop (i7 3.4 GHz quad core w/ Geforce 660 ti and 8GB RAM running Win7 64 bit) and my laptop with far weaker yet still competent specs (i5 2.8 GHz dual core w/ Geforce 425m and 4 GB RAM running Win7 32 bit). I check the driver info in the system menu and apparently my graphics card is detected as a 3dfx card rather than Directx or Opengl or whatever. Is this normal? How can I resolve this problem? I've reinstalled the game countless times, tinkered with the configs, and nothing works.

I have NEVER ran into this problem in other Q3-engine powered games (Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy, Quake Live, Xonotic, Warsow, etc.), so me running into this big issue in this game was a big surprise.

EDIT: I FIGURED IT OUT! I found this line named: seta r_glIgnoreWicked3D "0" in the wolfconfig.cfg file in Steam\steamapps\common\Return to Castle Wolfenstein\Main. I changed the 0 to 1 and now I can select any resolution that I please without hassle. I guess the reason why this happened is due to the game detecting my nGlide 3dfx wrapper from another old game that I was running or something.

Anyway, that's how I solved my problem, and if you have a problem similar to mine, maybe my proposed solution will help.

If some it fixes the issue for several people, it would be good to get it sticky (dunno if it's possible, there's no dedicated moderator here atm) or make a guide :)

Thanks for the tip, same thing happened to me. Can't remember this from the non-steam version, but maybe I just never played above 800x600 with my crappy PC back then :D

Did not work for me. Still stuck in the low res corner, also with mouse arrow glued to far left corner. Also tried the unoffical patch 1.42, but no luck. Seems I bought a game that doesn't work.

Sorry to hear that. Does the driver info in the system menu still say 3dfx or some sort?

I had the same problem.
Problem solved.
Now running full-screen in native resolution on hp G62 (Win7-x64 Home Premium, Core i3 M350, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470).

Nettacki, this works for both single AND muliplayer modes. Make the same change in the multiplayer config file,wolfconfig_mp.cfg, that is made in the single player config and you're golden. Thanks for sharing this with the community.

Now, to find multiplayer servers...:tgrin:
