Timeline of the game's events. [SPOILERS]

[Sex Defender]

This is a quick timeline of the story. I thought i shouldve written down after i completed the game.

The Timeline (Chronologically):
>Before the events of the game. The power company is established by Dr Caine (i think that was his name). The power company's objective seems to be to 'fight' for a better future. But 14 years before the game starts,the company is destroyed due to a mysterious accident that nobody knows about. I theorize that the Aliens mentioned in the game are the ones who destroyed the company due to their ideology.
>A 'woman' which i will call Hiker goes on a road trip to an old power company facility Reffered in the game as the 'Concrete mansion'.
>Upon 'Trespassing' she is attacked by a black creature. She Dies.
>At this point another character who i will reffer to as the assasin finds her body,takes her camera and calls emergency services. Shortly after calling the police,she (presumably) takes the hiker's car and goes back into the city. Goes into a fast food diner. Where she loads up her gun and waits for everyone to leave.
>In the diner we meet another character who i will call the smuggler. She is given a mission to smuggle tapes across the border and is scolded for doing 'something' (i dont know what he/we did in this instance to be scolded. Please give an answer/theory in the comments if you have an idea of what it was) by her boss. Shortly after,she leaves to get the tapes from her appartment.
>After everyone leaves the diner. The assasin breaks into the back room of the establishment. Where the boss keeps a large stash of tapes. There, she kills the Boss and watches the tapes (presumably dying afterwards due to the nature of these tapes).
>After getting her own crate of tapes. The smuggler goes to the border and gets caught red-handed. A border guard talks to her and afterwards proceeds to watch the tapes even after a warning from the smuggler. The border guard dies right after watching them.
>The End

I think the smuggler was being scolded for giving a tape to his neighbour.

Thanks for the positive response!
But the boss scolding the smuggler because of that doesnt seem right. Giving a tape is optional and happens after the bar meetup.

It sounds good in my opinion (btw, in the last paragraph you said "his own crate of tapes", despite that smuggle character is female, just pointing out the typo). As for the smuggler giving the tape to the woman in apartments, the dialogue between them actually shows that she (smuggler) did give her at least one tape before, so that's why her boss or representative of the ones she works for scolds her in the diner.

The girl in the apartment imply that the smuggler gave her some tapes before, this is why she is nagging him, she want him to give her a new tape. But the smuggler could be scholled for something else as the contact seem like a nitpicker.

Smuggler is a female too actually, judging by the dialogue. I also think that it may be possible, that her and assassin are the same person actually.

Assassin defintely lives after watching the tapes. When she's having the conversation in the beginning sitting at the table we can see the boss's corpse outside behind the glass.

Regarding the scolding:

"In one of its many iterations, the scene had the player strong-armed into smuggling the tapes during a weird poker game. The character owed the man money and he would give the player a second chance through this card contest. By inevitably losing the mini-game, they would end up owing an even greater amount, being forced to do the job.

“In the end, we ran out of time and had to go somewhere simpler, which begged the thought of ‘what if the card game did happen, but we don’t play it because we’re viewing this through a sort of… refractive lens of memory?’" Harvey continues. "This streamlined down to just a refractive reality and thus we arrived at the ‘glitchy’ effect.”

The character's names are Birdwatcher, Smuggler, and Assassin.

The two times you see the effects of the tapes, they kill no one.

Maybe relisten to Dispatcher's briefing to Smuggler again to understand why they didn't change her too.

Power Company is more than 14 years old.

Smuggler is a guy.

The story isn't over yet.

If we wanted a reasonable salary, we'd be looking at a budget of around $120k. Considering the unreliability of Patreon (no guaranteed funding, totally possible people will cancel on you and stuff like that), it's not something I'd want to use to fund the game's development.

Not considering _our_ plans for the game... ;)

You say Smuggler is a guy, but to listen to Dispatcher's briefing to Smuggler to understand why the tape didn't change "her". Did you mean the Dispatcher's briefing to the Assassin near the beginning? I do remember something about a mantra.

Calling the person talking to the Assassin a Dispatcher is kinda confusing because she talks to a 911 dispatcher at the end.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something.

I've referred to the mantra character as a lot of things over time, like Handler, etc. He doesn't really have a name for the purpose of the game. That is the only briefing in the game, so that's the one I mean, yes.
