The TrackIR Thread
Please support TrackIR!

Unfortunately, we're not really looking into implementing TrackIR on release or anytime soon.

I did notice that the SDK is now free to use since August this year, which makes it easier for us to investigate in the future before committing to anything.

Until it is officially supported you can use a FreePIE script to convert Trackir to freetrack (which is supported).

The script:

def update(): freeTrack.yaw = -(trackIR.yaw/180) freeTrack.pitch = ( trackIR.pitch/90) freeTrack.roll = -(trackIR.roll/90) freeTrack.x = -trackIR.x freeTrack.y = trackIR.y freeTrack.z = trackIR.z if starting: trackIR.update += update diagnostics.watch(freeTrack.yaw) diagnostics.watch(freeTrack.pitch) diagnostics.watch(freeTrack.roll) diagnostics.watch(freeTrack.x) diagnostics.watch(freeTrack.y) diagnostics.watch(freeTrack.z)

Freepie: https://andersmalmgren.github.io/FreePIE/

It will be using the Freespace 2 Trackir profile (as most unofficial trackir games do).

(Edited to add 6DOF support)

Thanks, but the real question is why are bootleg headtrackers supported and official hardware is not?

This is an excellent question that deserves an honest answer.
Freetrack has a public license, Trackir must be licensed from NaturalPoint. It takes longer to get your game added to Trackir than to implement freetrack.

So TrackIR is coming in the future to this game?

Just get a VR headset... then they don't have to support TrackIR.

My glasses don't make wearing VR comfortable in any way. When they finish developing light field VR, then sure.

Like one hour longer. Sending email isn't hard.

I have a solution for you:

A range of different options for prescription VR lenses:

Contact lenses would also probably work nicely.

the only reason this game in my wish list is to play it over VR, is time get the headset

I'm surprised if NaturalPoint hasn't contacted the developer or vice-versa. I'm sure they are desperate to add more games to their roster: they've been so stagnant recently. They only had 4 games last year and only 2 this year so far

Adding a vote for TrackIR. (And for 21:9 support, in a separate thread.) Gimme my big sky and my situational awareness, please!

TrackIR and 21:9 support, please (also, triple monitors).
