Over-balancing in last patch
I popped on for a few minutes this morning and there's a few odd things I've noticed. Understandably, we are all lacking a little context about their plan for the game, so some of the odd changes may be done with future changes in mind that will make them make more sense.

Air drops - I saw a box drop from a good distance away and watched it as it fell. I read that they adjusted the speed 5x down from where it was before patching. The incredibly slow speed is entirely unnatural. And while it does the job of allowing more players to get to the drop and contest it, it also makes it look really dumb. I feel they overbalanced this. Why not just change it to 1/2 the speed and see how players react? Why 5x?

Base locks - I noticed that they were going to reduce the cost on base locks. I didn't think they were that expensive to begin with. But now they are only 1 spare part. Why? That's too cheap. At least make it 1 spare part and 1 wire. Another over-balance IMO.

Base decay - My twig 2x2 (two story) went from 3d to 20d after the patch. That's something like a 6x-7x reduction in cost. Come on developers. That's absolutely absurd. At least in Rust, players have to farm for resources. In Deadside, you have to smack a tree twice and you get 5d of base resources. You guys are WAY over-balancing things.

I know there is going to be a teething period for the old survival players who are trying to cope with the changes that are being made. But many of these changes seem nonsensical. I feel like they are going way too far in their changes and there doesn't seem to be a logical plan. It sure would be nice if we got an actual roadmap, so that we could have some understand on what developers are trying to do.

Yep they've taken the grind out of the game. We're catering for energy-drink fuelled 14 year olds now instead of the OG players looking for survival realism.

They've taken the grind out of the game? good.

I don't have a problem with survival realism but the setup they had when 1.0 dropped and the resources was ungodly. There are people who don't have that much time during the week due to family and work to be just grinding resources. Then add in a vehicle and now you need machine oil, spark plugs and the mechanics tools if you want a vehicle (which you had to do bunkers. Between all of that there would have been no time to run missions. Something needed to change

So what are you saying, that everyone should adjust to this New Game that is being OVER
Tweaked to accommodate the Soccer Mum/Dad, hard workers who don't have time to play games but only on Week Ends. If you want to play Computer Games you make the time for them, otherwise DON'T buy them and carry on with your 9 to 5 job.
I agree the UPKEEP was Steep, but now it's just TOO EASY.
I don't mind the fact that it takes less time to convert Logs into Planks now, but as someone else said, to cut a few twigs or Logs doesn't take that long.
With a single knife I can cut 2500 (+/-) twigs same with an Axe 2500 (+/-) Logs .... 1000 logs gives you 4000 Planks .... so basically, you take a little time to gather Resources for the UPKEEP, and then for a few days you can go and do all the Exploring, Missions or Raids that you want..

Just dial it back a bit. That's what balancing is. They will dial it in.
Stubs Dec 18, 2024 @ 5:45pm
Yeah, spending 5 minutes and one axe to get enough planks for 50 days upkeep is a little too easy to say the least. They even removed the nails from the upgrade process so there is no risk getting supplies to build.

OH look it's the video game police. Just because you evidently have all the time in the world doesn't mean everyone else does.
I'm glad you have all the time in the world to gather resources. But, then again thankfully when someone buys a game it doesn't ask if I have a job and family. If that would be the case there would be a lot of games not getting played. Then we'd have to listen to you complain that nobody is playing. A developer needs to find the balance where EVERYONE, not just people like you, can enjoy the game

thats modern gaming in a nutshell for ya. Money is the main priority

and games (not deadside i like deadside) are bad nowadays because game development has become easy. Game development should NEVER be easy. We see time and time again developers switching to unreal engine 5. Why? Because you can just click "generate video game" and be done. Well not actually. But kinda lol

After version 1.0, it seemed that everything had been simplified, there was no survival pressure, no difficulty, and PVE players would quickly become bored and leave.

I don't see how I'm POLICEING you.
If you buy a game without reading about it FIRST and don't look to see what the game involves and how it could AFFECT your day, really that doesn't mean a thing to me... and yes I have all the time that I want too play Video games, I've done my time of busting my ass working, sometimes doing 18 - 20 hrs shifts, working Saturdays and Sundays .... but YOU never saw me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it on here .... so SUCK IT UP... do your hours of work and if your darling little wife ALLOWS you to play for an Hour, do it and don't complain.... YOU, SIR are just ONE in a million. It's your life, you find the time to play OR Not.

Dude!! I don't buy a game thinking about how it will affect my life. I buy a game to relax and unwind and as a getaway from...life. If you pick a game and think how's this going to affect my life? You truly have issues.
In all actuality, you missed a lot of people stating the same thing during PTS and the release. For the amount of people that play this game...its not one in a million.
Just go back to your basement and have your mom make you a grilled cheese (with the crusts cut off).
This is a game...not reality whether you want to believe it or not.
Also, before the update it was a great game to play with base upkeep. I, as well as many other people who have played for quite a while just wanted some balance where we could relax and unwind and run some missions after work or during the weekend.
For some people who have a life outside the house (evidently not you) we just wanted the balance where we weren't collecting all the resources during the time we could be running missions.
I'm sorry that this must be a foreign concept to you. But if you believe that the game needs to be tailored to the way YOU play and no one else you're mistaken. Video games are for everyone, regardless of how they play or when they can play.

I have to agree with your post. They made it way too easy now which kind of kills the grind for me, I feel like they took one step forward and then took it right back with these changes they lower the price of locks and make it easy to cramp all this stuff, but then you go to the store and they want 5K for a can of food.

The problem I see is that if you want a PvP game, there are simply better options out there. Deadside had what most survival games didn't. AI bots in an open world survival game.

This fusion between DayZ and Rust isn't working ATM.

They don't have the server structure that RUST has to support 1000 players. They also don't have the procedural map. I suspect they never will have these things and PvP'ers will just play RUST. And it now is far too easy for the survival DAYZ crowd.

There may be a middle ground.. but what they are doing so far has left me a bit skeptical. Like they are having an identity crisis.

Seems like you are the one complaining about the game being too grindy... Now I would appreciate you leaving my Mum out of this... I have not offended you in any way so don't start something that you cant finish.
You are complaining about not having time too play, NOT ME.... and I do have a life, difference is my life is free not attached to strings like you are tied to.
It's really easy .... you have 3 Option's:
(1) Change Job so you can play video games.
(2) Tell your boss you need better working hours so that you can play video game.
(3) Just shut up and don't play, but stop busting peoples cojones with your whining.

For your information, the old way it took me exactly 20 minutes to collect 2500 sticks and 2500 logs, and it took about 20 minutes to convert 500 logs into 2000 planks. 40 minutes (45 tops) You could spend 10 minutes every time you are on and still be able to get supplies for the UPKEEP.
You are right
Video games are for everyone, regardless of how they play or when they can play.
So start playing by your own words. You are the one that wants the game tailored to your working life style.
By the way grilled Cheese on toast is not that bad, but I prefer the crust ON and a thin spread of Marmite add to it.
But you work so hard you wouldn't know how to make it, your country is lucky to have you, without you I'm sure the economy would come to a grinding halt.

Wow!! You are pretty quick there. Glad you can understand what I am getting at. Also this is a place to post things you like and dislike. Sorry if it evidently offends you that there's more than one type of person playing. I'd say you're country is glad to have you but they probably don't know you exist hiding in your basement eating your grilled cheese with the crust on.
Actually, I'm pretty sure I have been saying that admin should have the ability to alter the settings of this. So much of the game has been more geared to raiding and pvp...dont do either of them. Never asked for the game to be tailored to me..sorry to rain on your parade.
