2021 and such wreck performance games
- Turn off v-sync, it is bugged and causes problems
- Steam launch options for Valheim to force fullscreen nets some good FPS returns;
''-window-mode exclusive -screen-fullscreen''
-Find your Valheim directory, find Valheim_Data, then open the 'boot' file with notepad. copy and paste these lines of code to the very first line of this file;
gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1
gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=1
Make a backup of this file just in case
These tips should give you a sizeable boost in performance hopefully
We have on our server a realistic "longhouse viking" with around 400 elements , a forge with all things and windmill, around 10 individual houses from each player, gardens etc.
Also a lot of light builbs. And at least each house have terraforming effects.
I guess its the loading of the near invironment (chunks seems not optimized) and not only the client computer performance.
I play on maximum visual effects ( e.g. I can see my arrow also on very far away enemies landing.
Its the same problem like in minecraft, the chunks should be more smooth on load/unload.
And just setting down the options, I agree, is not the best solution, because the game live with the beaty shader/lights.
Most of the options have no/minimal fps impact. i have turn all off and there was only a little fps impact.
I hope we can disable wavering grass and tree. this consume also much fps. in monster hunter world i must disable this too.
There are dozens of tweaks and suggestions to improve performance on the forums. Seek and ye shall find, i.e. use the search feature...
Oh, and as as many of us have to keep repeating the game is in early access. It's unfinished and not optimized yet. Performance will be hit and miss until they're further along in the development cycle and start working on optimizing things.
Fortunately for me, no.
I have a Lenovo Legion 5P.
Laptop RTX 2060 (desktop 1060 equivalent or there abouts) and Ryzen 4800H. On max I get 45-75fps, on a mix of high & medium with effects on I get 65-100fps, both at 1080p).
What are your settings? Remember, this game is in its very very early stages and Nvidia will likely have some drivers in the works.
Another thing, this game really ought to be on an SSD.
