Games for Windows Live always crashes when starting up Bioshock 2?
A lot of people are having problems with Bioshock 2 crashing and not running at all, mine runs fine. And I am sure I do not have much to worry about, but it is an annoyance nonetheless. Everytime I start up Bioshock 2 and select single-player and am logged into Games for Windows Live, I am brought to my desktop where it tells me that Games for Windows Live has crashed or stopped working or whatever - I can always just close it, switch back to Bioshock 2 and be fine. I do not have any other games that use Games for Windows Live, and it was installed when I logged into my live account when first starting Bioshock 2, and then it downloaded a couple of updates for the Game for Windows Live client having to restart the game and re-login each time. I assume it is just something that went wrong with the installation, but my game works, so I am quite fine.

The same thing happens to me. Occasionally the game crashes too mid-game and usually have to start the whole level over

funny thing is...the reason your game isn't crashing is because the piece of ♥♥♥♥ GFWL client crashed first...are you able to load your save games properly though?

Never had any problems with the game, whatsoever.

http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/Support/Pages/technicalIssues.aspx Try updating GFWL from here and see if it helps. Downloads at the bottom, I'd also recommend getting .Net Framework and Silverlight downloads too.

If Bioshock 2 crashes during the intro cinematics and the pop-up message from GFWL shows you as offline, then is is because the game needs an update from GFWL.

What you need to do to solve this, is simply to launch the multiplayer mode instead of single player and allow the update to be completed.

1. Uninstall GFWL
2. Verify integrity chache for Bioshock 2
3. Delete the bioshock 2 saved games folder
3. Download the latest version of GFWL from the Microsoft website
4. Restart Bioshock 2

I tried those steps but I get the error "An error occurred. Error code:0x80070003" when trying to install GFWL.

That probably works, but like I said, I had no problems playing the game whatsoever. It was just a slight nuiscance to have to alt-tab to close GFWL and then tab back in the game.
