Sacred Coil end mission
Come on, this is super super spiked in difficultly might have to restart the whole game to beat it. No, I am not being ridiculous its super, super crazy. Even skipping killing the floor just making it to the objective without the big bad doing flips all over your squad with this crew of ronins is just...well..unfair. Every other mission was either not to bad or challenging but with an air of passability. This almost seemed like one of this die on purpose to advanced the story missions, but its not.

EDIT: This is for if you take this investigation 1st, on a second play thru I did it 2nd and it was not that hard. As seen below gear and level ups are everything.

You choose the wrong mission at start, gg, you just lose 8 hours of your life.

Yeah, my first ironman run ended there. It just spawns way too many enemies way too quickly, in a tiny room. If you just do a hail-mary sprint to shut down the portal, you MIGHT keep it to just four enemies. And then die from having your squad split all over everywhere.

Agreed, it is ridiculous. If you don't sacrifice two squad members at the beginning of the fight, the game just drops a ton of reinforcements turn one. There are just too many enemies to deal with. I'm stuck on a run with Terminal, Cherub, Blueblood and Verge, and there is just nothing they can do. There is not enough damage, CC, heals or grenades. Makes me want to stop playing, tbh.

I had very difficulties until a bug made the Gatekeeper panicking and doing nothing for 4 turns.

Also i suggest to instakill the boss as soon as you start because he is painfully dangerous.

if you have no gear i suppose this is hard. i did it as second investigation with some gear (tier 2 weapons, 1 plasma nade, 2 epic shotguns i found or bought) and claymore on 5th level, patchwork (its kinda her storyline because all the robotics), godmother and cherub. it was doable.

i will try it in my next run first to see the difference. everyone else i can tell just pick them second. i found the progeny not to bad (if they cant get the jump on you) and the gray phoenix i was lucky to have cherub to fully counter the "surprise" before entering the ufo.

maybe its possible to farm up some more gear, give 2-4 days as long as your unrest can manage and hope for some good loot or scavenger market buys. so far my anarchy never got over 6 and i have nearly every second day one district go red. dont let this make you haste to the final mission i suppose, gear is everything in this game! free action to use most of it which is crazy good.

Came back to this. I kinda cheated, now that I knew what side the generator was on so I can spawn on that side, and after that focus fire on the boss and the the guardian (helps that I have Claymore for his panic grenade). My friend beat it by lower the difficulty lol. But if you can get rid of the generators on the 1st turn, kill the boss on the 2nd and then deal with everything else its a LITTLE easier. Oh also I only have 1 set of upgrades.
Hum no, not that hard, beat on first try on impossible, iron man, and with sacred coil 1st path...
team: blueblood, torque, terminal, patchwork

good luck

Judging by how you played it, and also your team I can tell you probably are pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good at the game lol. Nice low key humble brag.

Did you happen to run with upgrades/level ups? If so curious as to what if any you used.

As everyone else on this post said yes this is hard, and you say no...its not. Just shows you probably kick ass at it!
no i think its not hard if you got my team (torque tank easy and can block someone each round) patchwork big dmg even on armored and can control bots, etc etc

i found other moments harder

i finished the run in impossible/iron man but i did a lot of mistakes (didnt train my squad, didnt repear a lot of scares, etc etc)

i was not bad in multiplayer on xcom2, yep

pb in chimeria: all squad are not equals, and if you got a ♥♥♥♥ team i understand you cant pass this end mission

good luck again ;)

I also found this mission unreasonably difficult. Had to drop difficulty to the lowest level and attempt the last encounter over and over again.

If you are reading this and are not a superhuman XCOM player, do *not* pick Sacred Coil as your first investigation. I'm really bummed out that I had to drop difficulty, but there was no other way...

Patchwork and Terminal are ideal for this. Patchwork can hack MECs and buy time with Stasis (Stasis on the boss or a Ronin can steal their extra activations as their buff will wear off before the Stasis). Terminal's healing makes long fights managable.

Blueblood isn't bad either as he can deal a lot of damage.

And Torque can bind the boss on turn one, removing the hardest part of that mission - the guy who acts all the time.

People don't always get MECs, and my Torque never had Bellus as a legit target for tongue so binding wasn't an option.

In mine it was a turret, Purifier, Commando, Bellus, Guardian and Andromedon. I had Claymore, Terminal, Verge and Torque. I tried it multiple ways and it never worked until I read that Torque's aoe poison causes Bellus' AI to mess up. You need to get Torque to go before him.

On breach I also took down the Purifier and Commando rather than focus down the Andromedon like I had in previous attempts. Both changes allowed me to finish it.

Very difficult, but I managed to do it with Godmother, Verge, Blueblood and Terminal. I used up almost all of my consumables by the final fight, so it ended up being a matter of just trying different combinations of moves until I was able to keep my 4 agents alive long enough to hit the consoles. Godmother's "ventilate" skill was definitely pivotal in this fight.

So I chose the wrong mission at the start. This is just ridiculous. I had no problem with any of the other missions, they were like a walk in the park. But this final encounter has an extreme difficulty spike. I’ve tried it like 80 times (and around 40 crashes). Started the encounter with all agents at full health and gear.

So I was rushing to the last mission? I’ve never noticed that anywhere in the game. I can’t even postpone it.

Has anyone ever playtested this thing or what?

Also way to many enemies in the game are immune to certain effects. When i poisonspray or throw a granade into a crowd of 8. And 6 of them are "immune", I can't suck it back in.
In my case unplayable.
