Controller flickering screen

I don't know how to explain this other than, when using a controller, the game screen flickers like crazy. It is like if the controller had "turbo" settings turned on, and i was holding the button down, and it just spam opens the menu, or does "random" button presses.

The controller itself is fine, and works fine on other games, and the game works fine without the controller, but for some reason putting the 2 together makes game impossible to launch let alone even play.

same issue here (on Steam Deck). game is pretty much unplayable docked + controller.
