This has already been pretty apparent in the beta gameplay you can watch for hours and hours on youtube; players are often in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of negative cash but are still happily building away, living the sandbox dream!
I never saw a video.. but im going to..
Do you know, maybe, can you say something about being 'tied' to levels?
I dont know how the game is but i hope it isnt like TPH.. that ties you to maps to unlock features.. sandbox means freedom, and you dont have it when playing TPH
I went to a friend's house to have a time with the gameplay and i found it fun, but still no sandbox at all.. if you starte a new game, from scratch you wont have all rooms, all items and so.. cuz the game will only let you have it if you complete the next's steps..
Like, only in the university hospital you can unlock research room.. okay that you can use the research room thru all hospitals but you need to reach that hospital to unlock..
Sandbox means no restrictions.. no needed to pass that many 'tutorials' cuz every map is a little tutorial for the new room and so..
I liked this game, they are trying to bring the 'realism' of the thing to the game.. im not sure if i get it right.. but wow :) I may buy it..
Thanks for clarifying a little
Best Regards
From what has been featured it looks like you'll have options of undertaking established hospitals OR starting on a blank canvas somewhere around the size of either 50x50 squares or a larger 96x96 map to build away. But yeah, definitely check out the gameplay on youtube, it will show you all you need to know and more for what's in game currently and even check out the oxymoron forums to get a glimpse at what may be in the pipeline for the future.
aslong as the sandbox mode doesnt give you a billion cash straight up and requires you to play well to progress

I saw a video with a dev interview a month or two ago on Youtube, and they specially stated they wanted the game to allow everything to be modded, even giving an example of saying if you want to add a new disease that they wanted modders to be able to do that, and add the equipment to diagnose and cure it.
I also believe they stated there were 3 map sizes, 128x128 being the large, the two sizes already given above were the small and medium map sizes.
The only thing I am slightly disappointed to hear about this game is you're limited to 5 stories high....but still I will cope with that given TPH is still single story. Plus, who knows, the devs may increase that over time, or modders might make that possible for those with a good enough PC to cope with it.
Two Point Hospital already release the Sandbox Mode
There is a sandbox mode. There are even various options within the sandbox mode :
Pure sandbox : You start with an empty field (you can choose between 2 different sizes). However money is limited and most departments are locked. You have to level up to unlock the other departments and to get more patients.
Options for sandbox :
Free building : Building doesn't cost money.
All departments unlocked : You don't have to level up to unlock the departments, but be aware. When you have build more departments, the diagnoses become more difficult.
Before starting with the sandbox mode, please do your self a favor and look at the tutorials. It doesn't take much time and you will understand better what you can do whitin the game. This can save you a lot of time later on.
