Unexpected streak breaking
When I starded today's meditation, I didn't note, it's my 6th or 7th day, but the fire was burning. When I finished, the fire fainted, and the information line said, it's my first day. And there was no offer to change the mode to passive.
It is not a great problem to loose 7-day-line, but it was really unpleasent surprise.
I suppose, it happened because of my late meditation, so the game changed the "day" while I was in the process, and counted "day" not from the beginning, but at the end. Am I right?

Ah, used a different computer for streak 44 and now back to streak 1.
I have used this computer once before without any issue.
I can no longer use the other computer as cpu fan is defunct :(
So I can't get any saved files from that computer at the moment, until I can afford to get it fixed.

:( Dee, did you not have steam cloud saves turned on?
Dee Feb 3, 2020 @ 1:55am
I did once before use this computer and there was no break.
Also when I then went and used the computer I normally used the following day, there was still no break.
I'm not sure what steam cloud saves is

EDIT: whoops my bad. I just calculated from the day I started to today, and it would appear I did miss a day. I thought I had meditated on Sat but might not have after all. Silly me

I'm sure that I did play on Saturday, but played offline as steam wasn't connecting to internet.
Does playing offline effect streak?
It was after that, when I rebooted the computer failed

That computer is now fixed and when I played it asked me if I wanted up (I forget exactly what) but something about reconnecting to cloud
p.s. I don't mind, just glad I worked out I'm not going mad and imagining I meditated ;)

I'm failing to understand how the streak properly works. Two days ago (as of today, on 14/02) i meditated before my streak ran out, but after the day was gone (so already on the 15/02). It kept my streak. I felt like doing it again way later, like 3 am, and the corner said "do your daily meditation", so i did but the streak remained the same, so i thought it counted it toward the same day (still 15/02). I came now, again 3 am (currently 16/02) completed my meditaton, and my streak got reset to 1. Am i missing something in my math?

I think the whole streak achievements and system is BS. Due to poor timings with other things going on I find it hard to get round to running this each day (have even had a case of running it in the wee hours of the morning). I cannot for the life of me see me being able to get anything much higher in the way of streak achievements than 7 days. I think there needs to be some leeway in this (% of days run over a time period would work better) - imagine having a streak for over 300 days and not being able to get on (good luck starting over from streak of 1 again)... Program is supposed to relieve stress - breaking streak just seems to cause it. So much for it being a game to promote a better mental state. Might stuff this off and go back to my mobile app.

I think it should either be removed or changed completely, hate seeing it when I log on back at 1, yet again, its a cause of annoyance and does not set the mood for meditating at all.

Who is it that is annoyed so much by such a minor issue?
Tetrafish_21 Jun 14, 2020 @ 3:20pm
It's the ego that is annoyed. Right? :-)

The thing with maintaining a streak is like building a house of cards. One can feel as though they're putting in time and effort to build that streak, but one missed session and that house of cards comes falling down, making your past efforts seem as if they were all for naught.

But that's not why you (the one reading this) bought this game. It's not about getting the highest streak in your meditation sessions. That's just a side... reward(?), for the ego (I suppose). The last time it happened to me - I (too) was frustrated. I was playing another game and lost track of time, missing the time deadline by a couple hours. :steamfacepalm:

One could take that as a 'slap on the hand' with the short-lived anguish of a broken streak as motivation to try better to be more dedicated. But that's not always the case. Life happens and playing 'Playne' shouldn't take precedent over real life situations. Or sometimes you'll just simply forget. ...But never let yourself become a slave to something just for the sake of a mere number.

Maybe, in a way, the broken streaks are a valuable lesson too. But you're not going to see any achievement for breaking streaks. lol. But if there was one, maybe it could be called; "Is that so?"

It does not matter how you name it, but I think you are on the right track.

We have a winner! It is a lesson in letting go and a lesson in not beating yourself up when life does not care about your plans.

Keep the fire burning!

It is, potentially, a lesson in letting go - but it's also a useful tool to build a habit. The idea of "streak," is encouraging to the gaming mind, and breaking it too easily risks breaking the habit. Some will build the house of cards again, some won't.

Speaking as someone who worked a career with hours varied from 4 to 20 a day (and 72 straight for my longest day/s), I think 28 hours from last meditation gives enough leeway for those with less forgiving jobs/lifestyles.

If there are folks with more normal routines who can adhere to the current clock, that's great, make it a an option or toggle. But I see a lot of good in the gamification of meditation, and I see it in those I've told about the game who've bought it and experienced it.

But I think having that choice, that leeway for odd careers and lifestyles could really help some folks who really need that extra space... :)

To everyone:
Please note that my problem was not "Help, I've broke my streak, I'm angry/sad/whatever", but "Hey, when I start the meditation, the fire was big and I has a streak, but when I finished - it was gone, is it a bug?"

I guess you posted it in the wrong sub-forum. Dont take it personal, if discussions turn vivid people often reply to the last post without taking the original post into account.

Have a nice day. Hope your bug-related problem got solved.
