VR support ?
Is it possible to play Below Zero in VR like the first subnautica ?

Thankfully, native VR support has been modded back in and is even better than in the original Subnautica! I'll add the mod install guide to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbPdpxuM4vw

same question...

Even if I *really* loved playing Subnautica (almost 500 hours) and can say it was my all-time favourite game, because of the great immersive experience in VR and the love the devs spent to this game, there was some real bitter taste after release of the final Subnautica-VR - The devs promised to spend more love to VR after V1.0. However, they did not :(

In fact, they delivered v1.0 with some major VR bugs, as docking to Cyclops with Prawn/Seamoth lifts the Cyclops out of the water to a journey in the sky, buttons are misaligned that you always need to aim to keypads/buttons with an offset. In addition, of course the gaze cursor bug!

Some versions before v1.0 these bugs wasn't there :(
Docking problems and cursor misalignments occurred often during the dev process... They always fixed it! Then decided not to fix it in the final product :( Bad decision!

Many VR users spent much time and effort to analyse VR bugs, report them, test again to get a perfect experience. The devs fixed the biggest bugs while in early access and promised to give more love after v1.0.

I understand that VR is still a minority and compared to non-VR users not a money-maker. But it’s such a petty that they worked hard so many years on the VR support, fixed many bugs and on the final version they left us VR lovers alone with a bugged final version compared to the early access versions the months before, which were almost perfect.
And if I see the success of Subnautica (Game of the year), makes it even more bitter to break this promise :(

Anyway, it is still fun for me to play it. Learned to live with these bugs. I do not need any motion controllers - keyboard and mouse controls works fine and precise (if you learned to hack the setting file options.bin and get a cursor).

And VR support in below Zero? Would love it and buy it immediately. I read a dev comment from Oct 2018 that VR in BZ is a little broken due to much code changes and they will see if they finally support VR. Sounds like the same as in Subnautica... :-(

Sadly we don't think we'll be able to do VR justice. Not because we don't love VR (we do) or all own multiple headsets (we do)....We wanted to do a better job with SN1 but time and availability of people was difficult. We just don't want people having a bad experience in VR for Below Zero, so we're likely not doing it unless we can find the time. Making the game itself is the top priority.

NO vr no game shame

I completed SN 100% in VR (before 1.0 release) and it was probably the best, most immersive experiences I ever had. Apart from some of the text and dialog that was difficult to read, which is a problem that might be go away with higher res HMDs, the experience was otherwise perfect (again, this was before the bugs in 1.0). I understand the Devs saying VR requires extra effort and takes time away from other features, but you were so close to having perfect VR in SN1, I don't understand why you can't prioritise it as a feature, over other features such as in-game pets, which I feel didnt add much to the experience. Even if VR is not part of Below Zero early access, please promise to do it, I can wait but it would be a massive shame to not do it at all.

:( and here we were hoping you made good profit from SN as it really skyrocketed in sales and I'm very certain exceeded your initial expectations.
Well, guess the core staff was moved off of the project long ago. The expansion looks rather uninspired anyways compared to core SN. Will be keeping an eye out for progress though.
Would be awesome to see VR return to the series.

While I fully understand that VR is too much of a niche currently, and isn't worthwhile spending too much time and effort on, this still feels a bit like an excuse.

The main subnautica was plagued from the beginning with a few minor issues (PDA too close to the face, gaze cursor broken, buttons misaligned etc) which the VR community has been asking for months and months to be looked at, without even getting much of a response.

Now a single modder has fixed all of this in his free time.

In a way I appreciate that this time you're more honest about your priorities, nevertheless it feels like a shame that you couldn't be bothered to spend this little extra effort to make it VR compatible. If push comes to shove, you could even ask the modders again for help.

Because honestly: Subnautica is one of the best things available in VR right now, and is an absolute blast.

Despite the VR problems, I still had more fun in VR than in pancake mode. Sadly, if there isn't any VR this time, I'll probably pass...even though the less than 1% VR users who don't bother to buy prob won't affect sales in the least...until VR becomes easier to access for the average person.
