Dedicated Server - proper shutdown method?
Testing a dedicated server on my own hardware. Is there a command for shutdown, or do I just close the window via the X button?

(edited post and title for clarity)

Should be a shutdown / save option in your control panel from your host.

Control panel? All i have is a command window running OutlawsServer-Win64-Shipping.exe. The server is running, and I can't enter any commands in the command window.

Oh you have a full dedicated server. Im not too sure, I know in ark it was /save to save the world and then /stop - try those?

There's no way to input anything into the command window; there's no prompt, just output from the server. The server launches from a batch file, so the command window appears to be CMD.EXE. Just closing the window with right corner X button works -- the game state is saved -- but it sure doesn't seam like the best way to close a server.

Yea im not sure about that one my friend, hopefully one of the devs can see it. I know in the main forums they have a dedicated server guide
Pretty sure just closing out the window and starting it back up is how it's done. I'll ask our programmer when he wakes up (still really early there) to see if there's other options.

There has to be more than one way to restart a server for updates and regular restarting, I only say this because we have 2 different guys who restart our private server and sometimes it disconnects you and when your back on server you go back in time about 5 mins or so. On the other hand, sometimes it will just dump you and when you come back on, your dropped somewhere random on the map with inventory empty, morality set to 0 like your where killed, but you do still have the money on you that you had before being dropped and wondering why the server restarted that way unlike last time.

Help on this issue would be wonderful. Thanks

If you run Server whit -log and have windowed, you just close it by type exit, I use autorestart on windows and use windows to auto close and startup self efter reboot. then windows close correct. If you close whit X its not shoutdown correct and you lose some time. I dont know how mutch but it rollback litte time.

Type "exit" where? I use the -log parameter, and when I launch the batch file, it runs windowed. There's no prompt in the server window; no place to type "exit". On a whim, I typed "exit" and hit Enter while the server window had focus. It had no effect.

Branti, Thanks for the tip. @KNN Foddr, I can confirm Ctrl + C shutdown the server properly.
