This or Yakuza 0?
I've never played a Yakuza before and don't know much about it at all, I think there is more than the three games currently on Steam so I assume:
Y0 > YK > YK2
Right?

So far there are only three Yakuza games ported on PC(3-5 probably in the works), there are also Y3-6 and upcoming Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

The order you posted is correct.

Yakuza 0 is a prequal to the first yakuza game, Kiwami and kiwami 2 are remastered versions of the first 2 yakuza games with a few changes in balancing, combat, etc. I started the series with yakuza 0 and am now working on kiwami 1 and 2. From personal experience with both games, I enjoy the combat system of kiwami slightly more along with its better visuals, but 0 has a more interesting story, better boss fights, and a storyline that kept me going until the end. Either game is a good game to start with.

If you like an amazing story, and better minigames, go with 0.

Otherwise, Kiwami is still a great choice for your first game in the Yakuza franchise.
I've started with 0 last year and just finished Kiwami. I recommend you play 0 first, it is the beginning of everything (its a prequel) and will make the story and characters of Kiwami much more emotional. 0 is also a better game overall (which can be a bad thing playing it first); story, bosses, minigames, substories, longer, more content... not that Kiwami is bad, no, it's great, it just feels like an expansion of 0.

0, then this. tons of references in this that directly relate to 0, even with substories, not to mention a cheeky little bonus for playing 0 first which youll get when starting this (it will detect the y0 data on your pc kinda like how dishonored/mgsv did it)

Chronologically yes, it's 0 1 2 3 4 5 6.

0 is definitely worth playing and should be played 1st if you want to know these characters better. This is especially true because Kiwami (the remakes) added new things in relation to 0.

Just a personal opinion but I think 0 has a better story. 1 and 2 are a bit limited in terms of story because they are remakes. Kiwami also seems to expect you to know the characters from 0.

Yakuza 0 would definitely be a better starting point. Yakuza Kiwami seems to have been made specifically for people who finished Yakuza 0 as their first Yakuza game and want to get more into the series.

Yakuza Kiwami also has much harder combat. Outside of the introductory chapter the difficulty of Yakuza Kiwami starts where Yakuza 0 left off and only gets harder.
Yakuza 0. First game canonically and has so much content. Yakuza kiwami has the jankyness of the original and some boss fights are just ridiculous if you don't grind for hours trying to build up the dragon style so it may not be as enjoyable as Yakuza 0.

Play 0 after 5 or you'll spoil the entire series for yourself
eh what?

Only significant plot point in later games that is remotely spoiled by Zero is in 4, since if you've played Zero first you'll know from the get go that Majima didn't betray Saejima; whereas in 4 that reveal only comes at the end of Saejima's arc; that Kiryu is living with a bunch of kids in Okinawa in 3, or working as a taxi driver in Fukuoka in 5 is something that is established a pretty short way into each game.

Actually you should start with this first and then K2 and after you done with first few chapters of K2 you may start 0 at the same time. This (K1) was the first game and had been that way for 10 years. The only reference from 0 you'd be missing is Pocket Circuit and its characters.

0 is a prequel but it's that type of prequel that best played after some other games in the series. It was originally released after 5 games after all.

Majima Saga in K2 should be played after Y0 tho.
