Worth buying 2022?

Is the game still more popular than AoE 3 and 4 ?

Vastly more popular than both those games. It has better AI, more maps, better campaigns and more active MP. It's the best AOE game out there(although I really like Mythology too).

At this price dude it's worth getting

I'm on Linux though and I check the system requirements, it only says it's Windows support.

Any idea if it will work on Linux?

Given it's a Microsoft game I very much doubt it will work on Linux.

Worth for the single player and co-op content at least, that's for sure. I wouldn't bother with MP at this point, considering how half the topics on this community are about people complaining of technical issues or some bad behaviors from players, unless you have friends to play on private matches, then it would drastically reduce the amount of stress you'd get.

Afaik people got workarounds for that, should even work with the Xbox Live login

I'm playing it on linux with ProtonDB support without any problems :)

Well Xbox is owned by microsoft so not surprising Xbox works

@WaveRider I also regularily play the game on Linux very easily, SP and MP. No worries to have at all. I promise you that you won't regret buying this game, if you have ever enjoyed any RTS. AoE2 DE is probably the best RTS that has ever been made. Sits right next to Starcraft 2 on the throne.

According to Steam Charts, AoE2:DE consistently has more players than AoE3 & 4 combined.

AoE IV is multiplayer only game (e-spawrts bebee)..

It's not worth it if singleplayer skirmishes and campaigns are your main interest

This game is a classic and still has a reasonably big active player base. Me and 3 other friends got it a month ago and we play ranked matches as a team almost everyday, we never wait more than 3 minutes to find opponents, no matter the hour of the day
