[SOLVED!!!] Launch game on Windows 7. AVAPI32.dll//nothing happens + "Could not initialize graphics system"

Hey folks, so i've encountered a couple of issues after buying the game.

TLDR;
1) If nothing happens after you try to launch the game, and trying to launch the game from the .exe gives you a message about ADVAPI32.dll

--> download Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3080149) from windows optional updates.


2) If you're getting "could not initialize graphics system. Make sure that your graphics card meets the minimum system requirements.: ID3D11Device::Queryinterface() failed! HRESULT=0x80004002"

--> download Platform Update for Windows 7 x64-Edition (KB2670838)


3) If you're getting an error about D3DCOMPILER_47.dll
--> download windows update KB4019990 (Thanks dlopes9974 for sharing this!)


4) FYI: Multiplayer worked just fine for me!!



Further detail:

First error was that i would launch the game, it seemed like steam would switch my status to playing for like 1 second, and then simply not be playing. Nothing would happen, no error message, nothing. game wouldnt launch. If you browse to the local files, and tried to run the .exe file/application, you'd get a message saying "the procedure entry point EventSetInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll".

In order to solve this, go to your windows update, look at the optional updates, and download the spyware update named: Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3080149)
formerly known as Update for customer experience and diagnostic telemetry. Otherwise, try to find a download for KB3080149 from the internet. (This update has been frowned upon by the internet due to potential "spying" concerns. I don't know the extent of it or if it's true. just an FYI.

This made it so when I launched the game, I would at least see the launch picture, however this was immediately followed with:

could not initialize graphics system. Make sure that your graphics card meets the minimum system requirements.: ID3D11Device::Queryinterface() failed! HRESULT=0x80004002

In order to solve this one, once again in the optional windows updates, look for Platform Update for Windows 7 x64-Edition (KB2670838).

The error was mentioning a graphics issue with Direct 3D (D3D11 (guessing for direct 11)), and this update apparently addresses specifically that.

I know some of you are using expired windows, so maybe try to find the download online.

After hours of trying to get this fixed, these methods finally worked for me. Really hope this works for you all as well.

Apparently there was a dude allegedly playing, but not really sure if thats true. I havent seen any other person reporting being able to play on Win7

I really don't want it to turn into a debate thread, I'm probably going to windows 10 in the next months or so I'm just not comfortable with a few weeks left in the semester and tons of work to do for school, if anything happens to go wrong lol (I know it's really unlikely)

Just was wondering how it's working for 7 users if at all.
also curious as to how its running in general though even on 10.

it runs on windows 8.1, I can confirm this. However I cant login to multiplayer. having issues in that department.

it's running in my PC, i have windows 7. played against AI one match and was a spectator in a 3 vs 3 (humans vs AI) match. stable fps and no problems
