Hi Vigo,

we've not tested for running the game on Linux, sorry. We can take a look if there is anything we can do based on the logs of the game, however - for this, please send us the player.log and player-prev.log of the game to support@fivemindcreations.com. On Windows, these are located in %userprofile%\appdata\locallow\five mind creations ug (haftungsbeschränkt)\.

Hey, just to show up, interested in buying the game when/if it works on Linux, too. I even have full-body tracking working here with my Valve Index.

I'm still investigating the files from Vigo. Patola, what Distri are you running on? Can you provide us with your log files as well?

Thanks,

Philip

Hi,

Thank you for your willingness into looking into this. I did not own the game at the time I wrote my post, but I bought it now for testing and trying to help you work on Linux. I performed a battery of tests with the game, using Proton versions 4.11-13, 5.0-10, 5.13-4, Experimental and GE-MF-21, with and without esync/fsync.

I opened a bug report for the game in its proper place, which is Valve's github: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/4492 -- you can check the logs there too and my system information.

I will keep the game for a couple days before refunding, so you can ask me any tests you want to make.
Hi, thanks for checking this out - and, fair enough.

I asked Vigo for the logs (see directory name in the post above) and the crash logs (located, approx, in C:/users/steamuser/Temp/Five Mind Creations UG (haftungsbeschränkt)/PowerBeatsVR/Crashes).

Can you send those as well to support@fivemindcreations.com ? I'll take look.

Hi Vigo,

I received the logs and tracked down the issue to our HRM connectors, which use low-level Bluetooth and Ant+ APIs.

I've just pushed a new version of PowerBeatsVR to the Steam servers (may require Steam restart) in which you can add "-noradio" to the command line options of the game to disable the HRM connectors. This should allow the game to launch and be playable on Proton (without heart rate monitor support, obviously).

Can you check it out and see whether that works for you?

Thanks!

Philip
Using the "-noradio" flag solved the crash and with that flag it runs perfectly! Thank you so much for looking into the issue and the quick fix!
You, sir, are amazing. I had refunded but I bought the game again and I can confirm it also works on my rig with the "-noradio" option. Will update my protondb report, thank you very much!
Just wanted to also chime in here, thanks for adding this launch parameter!
Oh nice, Proton-support from the devs! Thanks a lot.

I also read about an external camera/spectator cam? so would it be possible to have a mixed reality view, right?

The game does support making mixed reality videos, yes. However, you need to use external software such as LIV or OBS for that. I don't know whether they work on Proton, though.

Note: We also have a "spectator cam", though that is meant for a better view on PC, not for MR videos.
my first day with with this wonderfull game in proton 6.3-8 and its amazing, click and play and 30 min with 0 issues. More play soon, my body fells very well with it ;-)
