while it does have a lot of cores idk how well that would translate to some games.
the 1080ti actually performs really good in ACC i dont know if that cpu would actually push the 1080ti to its full performance or not to be honest.
i do wonder if you would be adding a new power supply or if that would be an issue i think the 1080ti uses a decent amount of power 2 8 pin connections i think. if you were just putting it in like a workstation desktop type situation idk if that would work or not.
ACC also seems to really like the faster ram also not sure how well old ram would work.
anyways it would come down to what your budget is if you can afford to get a different cpu and motherboard i would lol but obviously if thats all you can do and its a good deal then im sure you could get a ok gaming experience although it might be bottle necked and under perform in some games.
there are some pretty good deals right now with the holidays prices have come down quite a lot also has brought down used market prices as well.
what do you mean with "ok"?
graphic settings dont have to be high, medium or even lower would be totally ok, it just has to run smooth... so atleast stable 60fps
from what ive read theres a few people using a 1080ti in exactly that workstation (hp z620) so id assume it should be no problem with connectors etc
the system would pretty much only be for this game for some race/driving training when IRL isnt possible
i recommended him a system with a ryzen 5 5600 but hed prefer to pay as less as possible
its just sort of a idk poor investment i guess because it could be very limited in how many more years and how many newer games will work well on it so something like the 5600x or a used 3600 or i7-8700k i5-8600k or something would be much better if someone ever wanted to play like the new AC2 coming out in the next year or 2.
i think even the i3 12100 or i3 13100 i5 10400 idk many things would be better lol and just make more sense i would check facebook marketplace and ebay or other used goods options also amazon has open box amazon warehouse deals sometimes that you can save 20-50% price on.
obviously the price would have to be very low to go with something almost 10 years old and if its to much that is money you could have put twords something much more current that will last much farther into the future.
**you would just really have to make sure the power supply is compatible it seems like some hp620 have a 800 watt psu and that is plenty as long as it has the cables you may have to get some kind of adapter or something at the worst you would have to use a sata to 8pin or 6 pin adaptor to get it working.
ACC is actually pretty cpu intense but if your ok with normal 60fps then i think you would be fine and maybe even be able to play 1440p do to lower fps(60) requires less cpu high refresh rate gaming is what takes a lot of cpu power
