Okay, this is a serious problem.
The dev's need to make it EXTREMELY CLEAR when you're on a time sensitive event. I'd heard about the Vendeval quest, and knew I had to do it ASAP when I got it... Except I NEVER received this quest, and lo and behold, my Cierzo is on fire. No mention of Cierzo, bandits, or Vendeval ever crossed my screen nor my journal... And then bam, locked out of the town forever. I really don't want to start a new ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ playthrough at this point to fix it, given how long it took me to get all the skills I have now.

This is an issue.

THe problem is some people were not prompted, and I even killed the 3 before I even got the quest. because I heard that. Its not people being upset because they played poorly, people are upset because the games buggy as ♥♥♥♥

um do people not talk to NPC's its true that rissa will tell you about the bandits if you decide to go with the blue chamber faction but if you talk to burak literally just say you wanna talk and he will tell you about bandits wanting to attack LOL either way that camp was the first thing i cleared out when i started tbh took me about 100 deaths LOL didnt even realize it was a mission later until i got the quest and was immediately rewarded

Vendavel (Side/Parallel quest) - triggers as soon as you join one of the three Factions as a part of "Looking to the Future." Players who join the Blue Chamber Collective have the advantage of being immediately informed by Rissa that their home town of Cierzo is now in danger of being raided by a powerful alliance of three warlords based in Vendavel Fortress.

If you decide to join the Holy Mission or Heroic Kingdom factions, then you may not receive such a timely warning! But if you speak to Rissa once you have arrived in Berg, she will inform you about the danger at this point the quest is triggered. The last way to trigger the quest is if you speak to Claus (Burac Carillon) at the Red Gate (eastern side of town).

According to a development team writer, you MUST return to the Chersonese region within 20 in-game days once this quest triggers if you don't want to the warlords to succeed in sacking Cierzo! The good news is that this deadline timer is effectively put on hold once you return to the Chersonese region map, and should remain frozen so long as you stay until you resolve the quest.

At this point you can make preparations for your journey to Vendavel Fortress, located in the southwest of the Chersonese.

If all goes well, you'll be granted access to the inner reaches of the fort. From here you can explore the fort at your leisure; no guards will harass you. From here you can speak with any of the warlords. It's worth noting that none of the warlords will attack the player on sight; they must be prompted to do so by the player.

What's more, they are completely independent of one another; killing one doesn't have any effect in your possible negotiations with another. However, you must deal with all three warlords in however manner you choose to complete this quest.

as Persian52 quoted from a guide, the moment you choose any faction the timer is started. It might have been the fact that you chose a faction other than Cierzos, which leads to no warning for you until you talk to specific npcs or go back to Cierzo within the time limit. You can also find more details in the guide where that info is coming from: https://www.neoseeker.com/outward/walkthrough/Vendavel_(Parallel_Quest)

that guide also has many other interesting game infos

Thank you, at least now I know how to stop it on subsequent playthroughs

I killed the bandits before getting the quest . i cleared Vendeval ran to monsoon and joined that faction. had the strange sword stored in a chest in cierzo and now i cant enter because a tree is blocking the way. further more when i went to cierzo i got the quest and it instacompleted in a second. it's really bugged. read on another thread that you don't get the notification after joining a faction if the faction you join is the one in monsoon. hope they fix this because gothic 2 didnt have these game breaking bugs, and people love to compare this game to that one

I agree it’s bad that it can happen without you ever having been informed of the bandit threat beforehand. This also happens to me but I’m just going to put up with it.
Naka Apr 5, 2019 @ 1:35pm
I don't see this as a problem and actually wish the game did more of this type of quest. The game world should move on without you because that makes the world feel more real. Besides losing a town, a player house/stash, and a legacy chest is a consequence most other games wouldn't have the guts to inflict on the player.

Oh and the sword you make from the strange rusted sword isn't that great, but an easy way to get a replacement is to make a new character sprint to the top of conflux mtn and then just transfer it over to your main character via split screen or a friend.

don't be mean to normies. who's gunna pay the developers to keep adding stuff to the game? it's mediocre as is, and it needs more content

I'd be fine if this happened after somebody told me there were bandits around, but there was no mentioned of it at all. Just 'surprise! The town is gone!'

I went to the front gate and THEN received, followed by immediately failing, the Vendeval quest. Like, put the damn quest in my log once you start the timer, or something.

Well, I'm NOT restarting my playthrough, so time for damage control. Is it possible to access my stash in a co-op game? Cause I had my rusty sword in there.
I'm not endorsing save-scumming, but maybe you want to reload that save? Could just be a one time bug. You can find your saves in the game folder and there are always multiple saves. just delete the ones from after you 'failed' the quest and you can maybe save the city.
Considering all the other gameplay issues with this game i highly doubt it's a bug. The devs overlooked so many small details in this game like stealth, thirst death in sleep, quests, lack of travel capability and all kinds of other ♥♥♥♥ yet they refuse to comment on much of anything mainly because they probably can't fix it just like why they didn't have the game over 2 co-op cause apparently it just kept crashing with more then 2 people and they couldn't fix it.

R E A L I S M

I too would have blindly failed this quest, but I went back to Cierzo to get some stuff from stash before getting into the faction missions and the gate guard told me about the fortress.

Later in the game I did fail a time sensitive mission that the game doesn't even tell you is timed.

So the people whining now are in for even more fun and games :)

Ok so when you arrive in the city, the guy that has a badass armor right next to the door tells you that Vendeval is going to attack the city. He also says that they could attack in a few days, he says it. And then if you want to take the quest, because you have to continue the dialogue, you tell him that you want to protect the city and THEN you get the quest.

I'm sorry that you didn't see that but maybe you should pay more attention to what the NPCs say, especially when as soon as you enter the city it is a forced dialogue. Devs mentionned during streams that some quests where time limited and if you don't complete them in time it will have big consequences, but I don't blame you for not knowing that.

So it's not a bug, sorry, you just went too quickly in the dialogue or you skipped it or idk, but it's your fault. I know that sucks, but now you won't do the same mistake twice at least.

As I already said, NOBODY SAID ANYTHING. No forced dialogue. No mention of Vendeval. PERIOD. Not a SINGLE word. I hadn't even been to Cierzo for a long time. So maybe pay more attention to what I wrote instead of assuming I screwed up?

I DO read what NPCs say. That's how I got and finished the Purifier quest. I know stuff like this happens.

It didn't happen in regards to Vendeval. No one said anything.

To maybe make things more clear, remember when you did the quest in another region and you joined a faction, they have you wait 3 days before you can get the next main quest mission. At that point you can trigger the quest in first town. You have about 2 weeks tops and if you never went back, regardless if you got warning or not, you will auto fail. But you can kill them in advance, before you join a faction if you wanted, join the faction then immediately run back and complete the quest. Just did it on another character to confirm.
Floid Apr 6, 2019 @ 6:15pm
So how does the quest playout if you just go clear out Vendeval, before you even choose a faction ?

Can we just address how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb this is? Like, complete moronic level of design. If you're interested in exploring enough that you run from one zone to the other immediately after reaching the town, you're probably gonna be interested in exploring the rest of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ zone you were already in first. Like i did.

And to those who say it is, no. This is not realistic. At all. Are you saying that no-one would ever travel between towns, spread news, anything? No-one would think to send a message or messenger to seek you out? No. We know the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ traders move around a lot, why the hell couldn't we even get a warning from them? But no, because i wanted to explore like the game seemed to want me to, Cierzo died and i lost all my ♥♥♥♥ because it didnt get moved to my stash in Monsoon. Icing on the cake being that the dudes in Ven were already dead, and STILL ARE.

How you buy a house in another town?
