You can, on pre-built maps.
Churches are not something you will be able to build, it is intended AFAIK.
Also, religion is not necessary in the republic. The only belief you need to have is in the people, the system and our leader!
So yeah, the idea is to counter the need for religion with other stuff. No churches will be able to be build and that is a gameplay mechanic.
While you're at it, demolish those old things and replace them with cinemas or shopping malls.
You do know it's still pretty early in development still, right? I mean, the game itself is excellent BECAUSE it has mods available. The devs didn't have to do that...
How about you don't play them either then? Why do people feel the need to complain about early access games with mod support? Go play some non-early access title with or without mod support. Or are you just gonna brag about piracy? I just finished 2000 hours in this game and 99% mod-free. It's a great game and I'd pay $100 with 0 mod support for the fun I've had / hours of enjoyment.
