I'm trying to get this achievement and having trouble...

I played a very tense game as the DDR where I was constantly playing tug-of-war with the Socialist Camp rating. I managed to keep it above 95 until October 1991, and then nothing happened until the clock ran out.

Hungary had those events where I had to persuade someone to keep their post, and publish the Hero Killer documents, and Romania had a new president which I congratulated, but other than that, no country changed their government system. (Though the event where you have to take on Poland's debt is difficult to anticipate.)

Despite this, I didn't get the achievement.

Is it possibly because I myself changed my government at some point? I think I went Kadarist because I allowed elections once. Before the game was done I got back to 'Thaw'.

If it's not this, then which decision do I need to make regarding Romania's election? Support the Stalinist?

It is tremendously difficult to keep the Socialist Camp rating up. You have to keep your diplomacy rating over 80 so you can promote the war in afghanistan and support the RAF, but if you time it wrong they'll all pile up on each other and you won't have any emergency ways of raising it for some event.

Finally got it! It took a lot of work, and actually I had to go for a few months at 93% and just hope Poland and Hungary didn't collapse to revisionism, but it worked. Thank you very much for letting me know it was Romania. It's an easy mistake to make.

I decided to let the USSR withdraw its troops, and then form my own military alliances (with nukes to force Hungary along). I then supported the State Committee on the State of Emergency coup and thought: "I will choose to rejoin. They will pull everyone back to the USSR and the socialist camp rating will be high..." and was shocked to see I had the option of telling the USSR it was revisionist and not worth re-joining! A very satisfying way to get to 100 Socialist Camp cohesion.
