How to play in PC mode, every time i start this game it launches steamVR.

Launch with the second launch option to force it to run in PC mode. If you don't have a VR headset connected it will use PC mode automatically
i have VR headset connected all the time, and this game starts vr composer for no reason

You can use the second launch option ("launch rolling line" instead of "launch rolling line in steamVR") and it will ignore the VR headset. You need to click "play" from your library to view the launch options
i have PlayGame.. and Play Rolling Line, both of which launches steamVR

Steam VR may still launch in the background, but the game should be running in PC mode.
Second option? Yup. It does register as desktop mode, yet also brings up VR. I guess it is as you say that it is a background thing, yet is there a way for it to ignore the whole VR running in the background similar to how VRChat ignores starting up SteamVR?

I'll give this a whirl in desktop mode until I can get my Rift fixed on my Saturday (if it does get fixed).

Old thread, but this is still really annoying. What kind of game forces you to tab out so you can close extra software pointlessly loaded on startup? There are other titles on Steam with VR support that don't have this behaviour.
Just got the game. And not happy.
Because steamVR startup with no active powered VR set.

Common problem by developers. ,
it's fixable. but the need todo some check. If steamVR is running or not.
If it's not running then do not start steamVR automatic.

It also can be a design error in unity on top of this.
Think it's something like not loading the steamVR
ibrary if there's no steamVR running.

start my steamVR only when i need it.
Still just as annoying as it's always been.

Im hopefully going to be making big changes to the core structure of the game some time soon (around January) and this will include solving the SteamVR issue.
