Game starts in theater mode in SteamVR?
Is that the way that the game is meant to be played? I'm trying to figure out if I have configured something incorrectly or something, but after this update is the first time I'm trying to launch the game. Any advice would be appreciated!

Find the game in your Steam Library. Right click on it and choose Properties. There should be 2 check boxes: uncheck the one that says "Use Desktop Game Theater while SteamVR is active"

That fixed the issue, thank you. However, when starting up the game I get the following error message:

End Space does not support VR. It will appear on your desktop and may affect VR preformance.

Then the game goes to launch just fine in VR.

Hmm strange, I must have done something wrong in the Steam settings. I'll have to check it out.

In non-VR (monitor only) I could not get UHD resolution @59 Hz to stick. I could get UHD resolution only in the menu, but as soon as the game goes to flight-mode it always (AOC U3277 monitor) resets to "VR resolution".
Until I read somewhere thet is somehow solved (setting in ini file, but I could not locate it) I unfortunately had to request a refund. End Space looks fine though and since now on sale ... it looks more than worth it.
Kind regards.

I'll have to look into that as a possible bug. Sorry to hear you refunded it but I will see if I can reproduce it and fix it.

Hi Dev,

Thank you.
I had a problem when Eve Valkyrie : Warzone was getting the non-VR treatment as well and on my rig it did not run at all (at first). Somehow it got fixed by the Devs and now it still is one of my favourite games. I do not mind at all to re-buy End Space if you think you will get it fixed.
Maybe I am doing something wrong and/or my monitor seems to be stuck at 59 Hz instead of 60 for this game. If I go beyond the UHD @ 59 Hz setting for my AOC U3277PWQU monitor it gets reset to the highest VR type resolution (something like 2160x2000/almost square res instead of 16:9 UHD resolution). UHD is no problem in other games though with my Nvidia Pascal 1xxxx GPU.
I can t find a settings file to set the resolution though, only boot.config that was set like this ...

gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=
wait-for-native-debugger=0
scripting-runtime-version=latest
vr-enabled=1
vr-device-list=None,Oculus,OpenVR
hdr-display-enabled=0

I tried with vr-enabled=0 too, but that didn't solve the issue.

I hope it is just my rig ... I guess so because otherwise you would get some more people reporting this.

Thank You answering and Good Luck !

Kind Regards,
Stefaan

I'm also experiencing this issue. It wants to launch in Theatre while I'm in VR. Unchecking the option in the properties throws the "End Space does not support VR. It will appear on your desktop and may affect VR performance" message when trying to launch from within Steam VR.

I loved playing this game last year. Came back to give it another spin, but I can't get it to work in VR now, which is a shame. Desktop mode just isn't the same at all. :(

i think to be sure to can use the game in vr you need to leave steam vr and click on the game in your list , it should ask you if you want launch with steam vr and you click on this choice and it should enable alone steam vr and work in vr

Yeah, I actually figured that out a bit earlier this evening. Annoying to have to leave Steam VR to run a VR game though. At least it's an easy workaround, but still it shouldn't be like this.

I don't know how to fix this. I have gone over the games settings in Steamworks, and it appears to be set correctly from the documentation that I have found.

If anyone can shed some information on how other games have managed this, I would be very grateful!

Hello, I have this issue as well. What worked for me is to have SteamVR running and open the folder where End Space is installed and run 'LaunchWithOpenVR.bat'. From the outside looking in, this appears to be the problem as I don't think you can launch a windows batch file as a SteamVR application. As a work around, you could have two separate executables, one for SteamVR and one for OculusVR.

This is assuming you launch those batch files on the back end when you choose the various options through Steam so I could be way off. Either way, I'm enjoying the game a lot, thanks for working on it!

This should be fixed now, found out how to get the game to launch within SteamVR using the OpenVR SDK.

If you are using any type of Oculus headset, it is best to launch the game from the Steam library and select Launch with OculusSDK option. Don't launch End Space from within SteamVR if using a Oculus headset.
