Is meeting the prisoner a supposed ending to the dlc? or I'm missing something?

It seems to be the only "ending" there is. Did you expect another true ending with credits? while the content is good, this is all really awkwardly shoehorned into the existing game. not a fan of how they chose to implement it.[/spoilers]

I thought they did really well with it tbh. It works well with people coming back for it, but then also would still feel good for new players (though more late game hopefully)

The prisoner now shows up at the eye of the universe with their own (aptly creepy) puzzle and instrument. There is also a new end card (after credits) with several new additions.

i don't know what i was expecting. the new stranger ship was really fun to explore and figure out how stuff works kinda like the original game. hopefully the normal ending is somewhat expanded with the new instrument etc.

also did anyone try to leave with the ash twin core on the stranger? is it still the same ending you get when you escape the nova with your ship?

it's the same. but you can get a unique end card if you disable the ash twin project and then kill yourself to enter VR. I tried a lot of dumb things before remembering fire is hot...

It's ALMOST the same. It also adds mention that "There has to be something here that's edible. [\spoiler]

I definitely never got that one. it was just the standard you outran the nova and drift until your supplies run out
